California and Washington State : FFL required in CA to have CCTV / security cameras .. WA following CA

Yep, Im a CA FFL and rebuilt my entire security camera system for the law that went into effect Jan 1. As stated above I have to maintain 24 hour and 365 days of audio/ video recording for all entries, exits, places guns are displayed, and points of sale. I originally had 30 cameras around...

    BI Dream Machine

So far so good. Only issue is 4 of the 14 internal hard drives are running a little warm. I’ll relocate them inside the case. I have 32 cameras running of 48 planned total. The processor is only showing 3-4% usage. If the processor starts to get warm I’ll switch to liquid cooled. But for now...

    FPS Question

Under the camera settings window, General Tab, The bottom right hand corner shows the current incoming specs for the camera. I have question about the FPS. Mine shows 15.6/0.51 FPS for Main Stream. I have the camera set at 16fps and iframe at 16. What is the 0.51 mean? Thanks

    BI Dream Machine

I just completed my dream BI build. Due to some changes in laws, I needed a large and stable machine For my business. It was fun to research and build. It will record 6 cameras at 5mp 16fps audio/video for 24/7 365 days. Then 42 cameras at 4-8mp for 30-90 days. Plan to use Code Project AI on...

    Writing to two HDs

Im trying to find a good 8-12 bay DAS right now that will Raid 6. NAS appears to be overkill for me. I don’t need all those functions they come with.

    Writing to two HDs

Ok, I’m back with more questions/ suggestion request. I appreciate all the input so far. I’ve noticed most NAS enclosures prefer NAS drives instead of surveillance drives. So, here are my thought on a couple of options. I’m not sure I’m understanding the BI storage options completely but I...

Very informative post to read, thank you. Makes sense with what I’ve seen with my own cameras and settings.

Thank you for that, i missed it. I will adjust back to just H265. Now Ill mess with bit rate and resolution to save space.

    Why doesn’t BI like 265+?

    Writing to two HDs

My fault for giving that impression. This is gonna cost a lot. I accept that. Im really trying to learn more about BI and using NAS or backup. My thoughts now are this. 1. Main BI Computer i7-14700 64TB DDR5 Ram 1 or 2 TB NVME OS Drive 4 TB extra drive used for whatever I may need Nvidia...

    Writing to two HDs

Awesome, may I ask what network drive and enclosure you use? (Surveillance HD, NAS HD, etc) Is the enclosure hooked up over the network via cat 5/6 I assume? I’m really starting to like this idea of cloning the six cameras I need this extra backup. It’s 365 days of audio/video. I’ve been...

    USB-C has a transfer rate of 10Gbps.

    Writing to two HDs

Another thought I had. Save 14-21 days of video to an BI Server HD (not the OS drive but another drive in the computer) then have it move to another drive in an enclosure to save for the needed 365 days of saved video. My current setup just sends all recording straight to a HD in the...

    Writing to two HDs

My current setup uses a cheap 5 bay Sabrent hooked up with USB 3.2. Each bay has a 12tb WD Purple. This has been working for me for 6 years. Obviously I know you know more than I do, but what problems would this cause? Or am I misunderstanding you and you are saying not to use network storage...

    Writing to two HDs

I was not under the impression that a thunderbolt 2-bay enclosure on raid 1 was cheating out. They are about $200-300 each from OWC. Mobius has one at $160, that’s probably the cheapest. But Daisy chained thunderbolt devices appear to be solid and high transfer rates.
