Before you replace that old dishwasher

Imagine the stories an old restaurant dishwasher could tell. Rueful foods no one ever eats What and how much of ?? ends up in the napkin Who the best tipped waitress is and why ;) The worst 'accident' in the restroom and who discovered, described  then recruited some poor sap to clean it up...

Before you replace that old dishwasher

Your water must be low-mineral? After that many years it is remarkable that the water valve or pump crusts up and quits working. I have a 10yo GE and so far only the door switch has needed replaced. I cleaned the filter system once about a year ago and found a missing paring knife. k

    System Architecture?

"A man's got to know his limitations" I like that. I have a new-old-stock Netgear SRX5308 quad WAN and 4 port LAN VPN firewall. This gigabit switch also has VLAN capability. Even though it is no longer supported, I wonder about how to connect this into my home network and wrestle with its UI...

Ri22o, good catch! TonyR, Reamed! heh heh i get it.. In the early 70's I was sharing an apartment with 3 other guys -we were all tech school (*MIT) geeks. The atmosphere was something like the movie Real Genius. Wall to wall brainiacs! Anyway, the A/C quit one day and of course it was in the...

Diary of a madman = minor system captures

I have had some rather interesting results: The first day after getting BI working was discovering a possum that kept harassing my garden. I live-trapped that one and re-located it. A couple days later I saw on live feed, and was attacked by -the largest male raccoon I had ever seen! It was...

As cheap as they are.. yes. A spare start capacitor is also a good idea. Usually it is the start capacitor that kills the motor windings. Just remember to cut power to the system before intruding. Each year I flush from the inside, the condenser coils and if the motor has a lube port.. give it...

US bans approval of new technology from China's Huawei and ZTE for 'national security

We all know the risks with Chinese-manufactured electronics -- and that's why we keep our cams off of the internet. If I may add, Regarding cybersecurity -or lack thereof. I am reluctant to share with you a personal experience with an executive that works for a rather large hi-tech American...

Diary of a Dericam S2 madman

My first post for help here... I'm a bit new to IP camera internals so please forgive my ignorance. I have a Dericam S2-32G I bought about 5 years ago -for my mom's house. I ended up owning it, and it has been a good PTZ camera. Then about 2 years ago it's pan/tilt quit working. On power-up it...

I run my microwave oven, the camera ip switches to the ap address

Flintman, Just a guess...but it probably needs new filter capacitors -those big round metal cans standing on end you see inside. The kind of conducted 'noise' I refer to is inaudible to the human ear. What you are hearing is likely to be power line frequency (60 or 120Hz) hum. Easy for humans...

I run my microwave oven, the camera ip switches to the ap address

Hmm, my first post as a noob... Clutch, it occurs to me that your microwave oven may be leaking a little bit of 'RF' radiation. Check/clean the surfaces around the door..? I'm a retired RF savvy black arts tech. I've seen a lot of weird stuff in the radio world and I'm skeptical of wifi for this...
