Another Raccoon, probably the same one.

Well, looks like our Raccoon is back and in our yard. Going to check with our animal pound and see if they can setup a trap or let me use one. He is becoming a regular visitor and I'm sure will love to eat the many cats I document around here.

Raccoons aren't going to mess with cats. They know better than to bother something that's going to fight back. Mostly they just leave each other alone but if they get too close ours will always chase them off.

Not sure where you are but most of the time when Animal Control traps something they kill it. A lot of people think that they're going to take them off and release them somewhere but usually doesn't work that way.

Does that kill them? You almost have to get lucky with a .22 rimfire. Sometimes it just makes 'em grouchy.

Ha! I know what you mean.
It does have to be a clean head shot inside of say 15-20 yards, but it will work. Now I'm not claiming 100% effectiveness by any means.

That looks like a serious pellet. Don't think I've seen any of those around here.

There was a report some time ago of a half eaten cat and a racoon was said to be in the vicinity prior to the body being seen. Racoon will attack and I personally witnessed one chase a neighbor up the stairs of an apartment complex and bit his pants leg and ripped his jeans good. lol It happen lightning fast and reminded me of a bobcat when it went after him. I laughed, but the neighbor wasn't happy about his ripped pants. What racoons will do to capture a feline is play the nose to nose meeting with them. Cat's won't always go into a fight mode when meeting an unfamiliar animal that doesn't seem to present a danger and looks like a cat. Racoon have other intentions when on an approach like this made with a cat and will grab them. Out side cats don't have the claws like an inside cat as well because they are worn down shorter from environment. If a racoon is hungry the will eat anything though.

I live dead center in Spokane, though we have had moose even sited in town...a racoon is capable of domesticating to live within city limits easily. They spend night time hours in sewer systems or aloft in a bedded tree and come out at night to hunt resting and sleeping prey or hit them garbage areas.

As for killing them...I really would like to trap it and haul it a short distance away to the forest. It looked to be an exceptionally clean animal from the camera video. I also have a Ruger LCP II with laser site, high power wrist rocket with high density glass marbles, as well as an axe handle hammer that is kept in a hid place. Though I am really not into hurting the guy since he seems to not be in trash in our close area.
