I saw that an update for BI was released a couple days ago, but I haven't seen much talk about it on the forums as far as how it is performing (I'm almost positive I've just overlooked it, but I can't find anything about it anywhere).

Is this a good, solid update with the kinks worked out?

Also, if I do upgrade, is there something I should be doing to backup my old settings/BI version?

I've actually received two updates in the past several days. 4.8.5.1 and 4.8.5.2
Both said something about general bug improvements, and a UI3 update. I have updated with no ill effects.

The Blue Iris tools will backup your old version in case the update breaks your setup.

Running 4.8.5.2 on three systems and haven't found an issue yet, at least due to updating.
