Good afternoon,

I have been having an issue of where the FPS of my 4 Amcrest cameras will drop to around 1 - 2 and as a result they start disappearing from the main blue iris screen. I have 3 X 720 cameras & 1 X 1080

I set them all up with a fixed fps of 15 and a bitrate of around 512 kbs. Most of the time the FPS & bitrates stay rock solid then something triggers them to drop. If I switch the inactive profile then back to my home profile they all stabilize. The totals show around 2020 kbs/72 MP/s

My CPU usage sits around 20% and RAM usage is about 526M. The cameras are all on WiFi (I know what you are going to say lol) for the most part I never have problems. I have a separate router/network at home just for my cameras

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this sudden drop.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You already know my best guess... wifi... I'd bet that periodically something is messing with the signal...
I know WiFi is not the ideal situation and you are probably correct. I reset the connection about 45 minutes ago and they are all rock solid. I just wondered if there were any settings in BI I could tweak

IF it's a wifi thing, messing and tweaking in BI will never do a thing. Any chance that even ONE of the cams is in a position that you can at least temporarily hard wire it in? That way, if it goes when the others go, you can rule out wifi. BUT, presuming it stays on solid... well... you know...

You can try reducing the bit rates. What is "512 kbs"? Is that 512 Kbps or is that 512 KB/s?

512 KB/s is about 4.1 Mbps. Multiply that by 4 cameras and it is definitely enough to choke regularly when wifi conditions aren't great.

Sorry my bad,

The bitrate is 512 KB/s

As I mentioned earlier I reset the cameras about 1.5 hours ago and have had the BI status page up, there has been zero "No Signals" and the fps & bitrates are all rock solid. My father-in-law is the only other person in the house right now. I think something is definitely causing interference when it happens. What would be a good number to reduce the bitrates too?

OK so one thing I do now now for sure is that the microwave definitely causes the fps to tank and the camera's to disconnect. I watched today as my wife used it and each time the same thing happened. Other than that I have monitored the camera status window all day and they have been rock solid. I think the other time this might happen is when my son comes to visit and he is playing games online and using up bandwidth. I am going to keep a close eye on things when there is nobody home which is when I do need the cameras to be reliable, especially the 2 I have recording 24/7. One at the front door & one at the back garden. For now I am pretty happy that I know for sure when this does happen it is some type of interference.
