Throwback Friday? Remember This?

Well, it happened again!

This time it was my window installer, and he broke a 1 inch PVC water line to my neighbors irrigation system. They were not even supposed to be here, and I was not home. I had family over for vacation. Very fun to deal with when you have dinner reservations the same night and now your neighbor has no water!

Worse, you can CLEARLY see him looking at the water now coming out where he just drove over, and he didn't bother to let me or the Window company know. Just left and let me deal with it

I will be using a different company for Windows...

I sent the video to the contact I have with the window company, and they have already paid for the emergency plumbing repairs ($580) and will be getting the water bill next. This highlighted that I need some protection for that area to stop people driving there, and that the fact I know a good plumbing company and the cell of a contact there is worth its weight in gold. I was able to call and get someone out within an hour. I can't imagine now having to search for a plumber while water is spewing out (Shutting it off at the meter was hard, as the meter was angled, eventually got it off)

Very cool, I didn't know those existed

This is what I ended up doing. If they don't last, I'll get the above

And THAT is why we have LPR. Some of my friends think I'm a creep - I tell them that they are the shady ones because they pretend not to know anything and therefore they lack intellectualism. Commonsense is not common for all.

Could I encourage you to put more reflectorized tape on those?

I'd be tempted to use the cement security bollard. The one thing I caution about that, make sure it's legal to put up and use.
Around here, if you reinforce like a mailbox and someone runs into it, you're the one on the line for the damage. Some stupid rules/laws around here.

Though I would imagine if it's a "decorative" bollard it might pass muster around here. Texas, being a lot more free, could probably get away with one.
I was going to put one of the round bollards next to my mailbox, for "decorative" purposes of course. lol... 600lbs each

It is ok, One of my Neighbors and I are no longer on talking terms after I showed him some footage of the guys that were car prowling on his street, He didn't like the fact that my camera that was over 200 feet from his street was able to detect that they were there and 1 I was ready when they got to my street and my driveway.. They didn't' hit my Driveway They did start until they seen the cameras even pointing at the cluster when they walked up the street for the dude to explain why they passed on my drive anyway my neighbor and I are no longer on speaking terms as he thinks me having all the cameras and the ability to detect something as far away as I did was not cool.. I mean the camera that was used I have since removed to try and make him happy I have also removed 5 others that all had masks in place but he felt were not cool.. Anyway the camera was a 37X OLD Ai PTZ from Samsung bought the last year they were in CCTV business 2016 so yeah it is older tech CVBS 960h PTZ that has some features that even my 2021 PTZs don't offer.. But is one of the reasons I still use some of the older high quality cameras because they have features that I have come to like and once I find replacements sure they will get updated but yeah have a good few older cameras that I can't live without lol.. The PTZ camera normally was using a Line Crossing where his backyard comes into mine. Because I have others that use our yards to short cut from his street to mine I want to make sure they are not doing something they shouldn't once the line is crossed the PTZ would auto track until out of view.. But that night it was a Motion Alert that made me look and yeah I then used the Zoom ability of the PTZ to see what was going on and knowing they were hitting cars I seen it in 3 different cameras.. Even giving the man a new mini PTZ in the box for Christmas one year from Amcrest that I had as backup of my Fleet of cameras he took the gift but still don't talk to me anymore lol. Hasn't installed the camera either lol.. Oh well.. Not a freak I just like my toys that just happen to be quality security cameras..
