I have several new cameras from Andy and they are awesome! Tremendous upgrades for all my cameras from only 3 years ago. A new to me setting available is SSA backlight. My FOVs almost all include areas of bright sun and shade due to my surroundings. Selecting SSA seems to really improve the image to balance the shadows and highlights. What do you folks think about SSA? Do you use it, are there pros and cons etc? Much appreciated!

Yes, before I tried it on my cameras, I watched that video. I would agree that on some of my cameras and specific lighting conditions, the result looks a little unnatural, which I accept as the point of using the setting.
I didn't consider that since I only use it during the day with fast shutter speeds. Have you seen issues?

Some scenes benefit Greatly from SSA backlight.

No because AI SSA will slow down shutter speed and change the iframes when there is no motion and that is what BI will struggle with.

And Backlight SSA simply is an automated WDR in that it varies the strength/intensity as well as on/off of WDR automatically adjusting to conditions.
Whereas using plain WDR you are forced to pick a static/fixed strength/value
