I enjoyed seeing all those night critters, and the heron acting like a security guard during the daytime.

Nah, but 100-150 yds down the canal they routinely get up (no seawall) and sun themselves by the mailboxes. Usually someone puts out an alert to be careful at the mailbox when they see one. Its got to be routine, nobody really worries about them. Just dont hand them a steak or pull their tail... they hate that
