I have a friend that I have installed many cameras for at his different sites of operation. Yesterday he asked me about some more cameras for at his house. He wants these strictly for looking at the sky for weather. There will be no people or vehicles that will be seen since they will be placed up high. Night vision is not that important I guess since it won't matter looking at a night sky. Are there any GOOD small PTZ cameras that would fit that bill? What would you recommend? Thanks.

Okay, after reading some posts on here and talking to people, we have decided on the PTZ5A4K-25X for the camera of choice for him. But now I need to find out to mount it to a roof. I've never mounted on a roof before. Is there a tripod style mount that would work with this camera? I'm sure I'm not the first person to mount on a roof, I just need to find some examples of what would be the best for this camera. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe a parapet mount reversed? Then you could attach underneath soffit.

Hmm. I don't have a good insight on how I would do that. Maybe it's just too early in the morning for me to think. LOL>
I was thinking if your wire came out of soffit cover the exit point with the short end and have the long go around and up over roof/gutter. Chimney is either going to block 90* of sky or melt the cam if it’s above!

I’d thought of doing this for time lapse of lightning storms, chemtrails, meteor showers and ufos!
But I wonder if being inverted would wear the servos out on a ptz?

We have one of those and thought about using it, but the PTZ worked out to be a better option for him. It cost a lot more but he will be able to check all directions with one cam. The T180 does work though.
That's why I have 4 of them on the roof, but I guess you're in PTZ $$ territory at that point, haha.
