I still haven't been able to use my cameras on the WAN since my port forwarding went down, I tried NGrok but that does not stay up for me.

I have a 1.2 gig comcast business class with a dedicated IP
 
Tailscale IS a VPN

I use it. I just upgraded my firewall appliance this weekend. I'm running Opnsense on a mini PC. Tailscale was quicker and way easier to setup than OpenVPN (which I had been using for years on another router). I was up and running in about 30min. I may go back to OpenVPN at some point but so far Tailscale is working fine for me.
