Thank you for the reply. The one glare to the left is a spider web but I see what you mean about the awning from underneath. I will move it to the right and see what happens tonight. The motion sometimes is jerky is best I can explain it. Here is one at night and one in daytime. Also I will get rid of the spider web. I have problems with them in the summer. It could be anything from the 2K camera is closer to the ideal MP/sensor ratio than the 3K camera to differences in the algorithm and how much brightness of a static image the vendor wants to have.
The 3K does suffer from some roof/siding bounce at the bottom left and that will kill exposure and create that darker distance as well. Getting that IR bounce out of the image by simply rotating that out of the field of view will help.
But we don't care about static images - what does motion look like?
It has three different settings Full color/w flood lights on - B&W with IR -or Smart night vision, the floodlight comes on when motion is detected, and I don't want the flood lights on. As far as the FPS goes, there are no settings or info on that. This app (Zosi Smart App) don't even tell you what the camera IP or mac address is like most other camera apps do. Also I don't know if this could be why the jerky video at night but when that recording was taken there was four other cameras running at the same time vs the day time one that it was the only camera running. They all run through my router to Blue Iris software on my PC.I would be interested to know what your night time camera settings are. That could be a few of a different things. First comes to mind is Slow Shutter speeds. Next and I don't know about your camera. I know that some cameras to work in IR will reduce the FPS to 5 or 10 fps at night. If your camera has this issue that could also do it.
Something to try, If your spot light or security light is on a switch. See what the motion looks like without the light coming on. It might be an issue with the light difference from when the cars are going by. Light comes on and the camera is doing many things that it can't handle do to CPU or just purely software. But that is what I would look to see if it has the same blur issue with motion?
It is not on a switch it has three different modes and they are either on or off. I will post a pic.Something to try, If your spot light or security light is on a switch. No worries I really appreciate your input and info. Although I do have a floodlight at my home but is is pretty far from this camera, and it works on motion and rarely comes on. Also I installed this camera to replace a 2k camera thinking the 3k 5mp camera would be much better night vision. The 2k that was up there never had a problem with the awning. It actually had better night vision also, that's what I can't understand.Understand what you were saying about your cameras IR or White LED, I just thought you meant that your home had a flood light that was turning on and might be causing this.. I have seen some lights with my cameras at one of my properties that when the flood light comes on it causes the camera to kind of having a moment of adjustment pause if you will that can make the image change.. Like the software is making adjustments as the camera is capturing the footage. So thought maybe something like that.. Sorry I misunderstood..
Thank you for all the information. I turned the camera to the right a little and it seems to be much better. It looks like the reply from wittaj about the roof/siding bounce at the bottom left must have been most of the problem. It's much better now.Understand, I have some 5mp cameras however to be honest they are junk.. I do use them because where I have them installed and working they do what I want them to lol. However for best results 4mp with quality sensor is going to be better for most people. It might be that your 4mp camera had a better sensor and lens combo that made for a better picture at night. However there are many factors that come into play as well. The ability to use a good lens with glass or plastics correctly. Then the filters for IR that can come into play. So yeah at times thinking that 5mp is going to be better then your 4mp this most times would only hold true if you were looking for a narrow long picture. There is some cameras out there that will make it wider then normal but most times has a blown out looking picture as well. Or I think it does on the ones I have used. If it is a critical area for the camera I would use a Quality 4mp camera. If your side yard is narrow and long maybe use the 5mp cameras there..
