I have a Dahua DHI-NVR4108-P-4KS2 with very old firmware - 2018-06-05 and would like to update. I have already checked the forums here and I found the thread "Latest new NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_ V4.001.0000005.1.R.201126". I followed the link to Dropbox and it asks for a bank card, which I'm not prepared to provide for a simple firmware update. Can anyone here please help me update the NVR to newer F/W? Doesn't have to be the latest version, I just want to be able to do a live view in my web browser. Currently I have to borrow another computer with Windows to use Edge with IE mode just to do the live view.

You can upgrade using NVR web service via web browser, Dahua config tool or using USB stick & HDMI interface..
I think this is 4xxx-4KS2L not 4xxx-4KS2...

I tried plugging in a USB flash drive to the NVR, and I still get "update failed" every single time. I have tried multiple firmware files, all with the same result, including the F/W Dahua supplied to me.

But You can try to upgrade to some older version in between (starting with 4.00000) using Your Older (Stare) link from polish Dahua support site..
Be aware, that after that big jump over firmware version You can have (or have not) some problems with stability of NVR...
Best solution is to do default configuration to factory one and configure NVR from scratch.
Of course You must known / remember all passwords to cameras and what options You done on NVR..

It would be: After that you can freely upgrade to V4 firmware at your choice
Latest is: It is a EOL product, so no further upgrades. But it is a still good little recorder.

I have a NVR-4116HS-4KS2, this one: Just for shits I checked it's firmware version; and it's System Version 4.000.0000.4 with Build Date 2019-11-29.
@EMPIRETECANDY has General_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000005.4.R.240808.bin with firmware date 2024-08-08 (so almost 5 years more recent) in his download section, but the improvements button does not work so I can't see what changes this firmware has.

Well, the NVR is working fine so if the new firmware doesn't have some major/usefull improvement; probably not going to do that.
You should, there are a lot of security and stability issues fixed - five years have passed.
