There was a recent update to the DMSS software for Android. I have the tripe wire setup on my NVR. I would get Trip wire alarms in the events section of the App where there would be a 15-20 second short video. But now the event page only show a picture not the video clip.

Any idea on how to adjust this?

Thank you,

For what it’s worth, this appears as an android issue only. My DMSS updated on my iPhone and all functions as previously.

Im new to this DMSS app and have been trying to figure this out.. i cant play the video of my tripwire alerts and been trying everything for a couple hours.. ugh.. So is this still not working on Android?? Im not using a NVR, im just using the camera with a MicroSD card. I can watch the video if i go to the playback section and start it from there.

Do you have recording set for events? (IVS).
You need recording schedule to include smart events (IVS) in order for an event recording to happen. Using general recording schedule only can give this issue.

For the schedule to be in effect, the recording mode must be set to Auto.

In your video time-line, this will show as separate recordings:

If this does not solve your issue, check if your DMSS account has permission to playback video. This is done on the NVR's interface (web, SmartPSS Lite, or local screen).
I have a separate account made for my phone to login with.

Thank you very much for the reply! I am not using a NVR, just using the camera that has a microSD card in it. So i dont see some of the options in your pictures. I do get notifications to my phone and using DMSS i can watch live video and i can watch recordings.. just when i click the notification it wont load the video. Ive tried this with tripwire as the alert and motion detection as the alert.. When i get a tripwire alert it does get recorded to the microSD card.. so it is recording the IVS event.

I have not done notifications directly from a camera to DMSS app, hopefully this can help:

Make sure the record control is set to auto. You already have schedule set to include motion & alarm.

Then make sure recordings are saved to 'local' (SD Card).

Make sure your account have privileges to view recordings.

Mobile push should be enabled if you are already getting notifications.
Local bound device to DMSS app (added via IP) will never be able to playback video when connected outside of your home WiFi (unless you have a VPN to your router).

Thanks!

Record mode is set to auto

Recordings are being saved to local SDcard

My add user section looks a little different from yours.. But i am able to view live video, view recordings, change camera settings, etc.. so i think i have full access

I have added the camera in DMSS via local IP for local wifi use, I can also openVPN and connect to the camera i setup with the local ip, and i setup the same camera to do remote viewing using port forwarding and my external ip that also works for everything as well.

Notifications for all (even local IP method) go through Dahua DMSS cloud services.
This was a notice over a year ago about Android & Apple changing how apps send notifications.

It makes sense why your videos did not load. Notifications came through via cloud fine but viewing recordings was unable to open since you added via local IP.
You should be able to view recordings while connected to your home OpenVPN.

As expected for local connection.

As expected for local connection via VPN tunnel.

That does not make sense if you only have the camera bound to DMSS via local IP.

I setup the same camera twice in DMSS.. one with my local ip and one with my external ip and port that i opened on my router.

Oh, that makes sense.
Good that it's working.

Yea i didnt try the external ip/port forwarding until i exhausted myself with the wifi and vpn.. only after neither of those would play my notifications did i try the external ip. Its weird because i can go in and watch the tripwire event if i go into playback and scan to it, but cant watch it directly from the notification.. if that makes sense.. so its really just a matter of convenience to be able to just click the "event" instead of sifting through to find the clip. Im setting up my little sisters house with dahua cams and she is on a budget so we skipped the NVR part. She is not real tech savy so it would be nice if she can just click the notification and it work like it is supposed to. Thank you very much for helping me with this.. it means alot.. i have read and read through posts here trying to find an answer till my eyes are bleeding lol

So i added "general" to the record schedule, and turned IVS on and off, changed the anti-dither value, and maybe a few other things and it started working (tripwires could be watched from the notification link) So i decided to try and figure out what setting i messed with that got it working so i could maybe help someone here in the future.. Now i cant get it to start working again.. lol ugh!!! Oh dahua why!!!?

As far as I know, DMSS notifications are all cloud services. Trying to use your own VPN or port forward for notification playback messes this up.

General recording is 24/7 (or the time scheduled). IVS is for human/vehicle's triggering recordings/events.
Anti-dither is a motion delay to provide some hysteresis (stops it falsely triggering for a minute change).

Turning IVS on/off changes how the camera records and if it pushes IVS notifications. You may need to re-enable IVS notifications in DMSS app again (so that the app makes a notification about the event).
