  • it is never just one file, it is segmented for each motion there will be corresponding file unfortunately, But download VSPlayer You can drag and drop multiple files into player and it will look like one when you watch.
    I am an old man.....I am new here.....and I am in trouble......lol.

I need assistance on an old hikvision 4 channel system. When I export footage to a storage device I always get about 20-30 files of motion clips. How do I manage to select only 1 Time period and receive only one file as opposed to the many clip files. I have no manual. II have tried clipping and unclipping, I have tried almost everything
my old mind can think of and yet I cannot get it right. Any assistance would help. This system offers event and continuous if that helps, blue and red bars. BUT.....the continuous bars are unable to be selected ????
Any help would be appreciated....Thank you

Well its never just one file. If its continuos, it will be split depending on configuration or firmware. But with motion detection its basicly alot of files.

You can use additional software to bind them into 1. But if you just wish to watch at it as one then use hikvision player called VSPlayer.

Otherwise like i said above, something like Sony Vegas would do the trick if you need entire file to send someone or similar.

For Windows there's this free open source program called AVIDemux which can easily join your split footage together without reencoding (faster and no quality loss). You can also make simple jump cuts too, so you don't waste space for the times when nothing happens.
It's really easy you just drag the first clip into the window let it load and then add the second.. once you have all your files added you click the "save video" icon and it merges the files into one big video.
Just be aware that your files have to use the same settings, this is only a problem if you changed resolution, framerate or codecs between those clips. It would also mean that you can't join a clip that is landscape and one portrait together.
