    I like this PTZ.. HikVision - DS-2DF8C260I5XG-ELW 1/1.2" progressive scan CMOS @ 2mp.

Are you using H265? That might be the source of the tearing. I've seen it happen with h265 before.

H265 selected on Camera, Blue Iris shows it at H264

I'm pretty sure I had restarted the cameras within Blue Iris, in addition to them having been restarted from their web interfaces too. I also know that I had actually stopped and restarted Blue Iris at least twice today while I was playing around with this stuff. My 8MP camera is now using...

H265 selected on Camera, Blue Iris shows it at H264

...in BI after making the change, it will still show the prior codec until the next "cut and clip" process is done. Default is every 8 hours. That is correct, many of us haven't seen the savings H265 markets, and with all the other issues, the little savings it provides isn't worth the hassle.

H265 selected on Camera, Blue Iris shows it at H264

...to save the CODEC with that browser. I don't think that is actually what fixed it however, because in the web browser, it had always displayed H265 , even before I had downloaded and installed Pale Moon, and when I first connected to the camera's web page via Pale Moon it indicted that it was...

H265 selected on Camera, Blue Iris shows it at H264

BI simply accepts what is being fed to it. BI cannot decide to decode H265 when you set up H264 or vice versa. It sounds like a camera issue. Could even be a browser issue where you are setting it to H265 but the camera saves H264. We have seen that happen. For most cameras, using Internet...

...that I would expect to see 6 times more storage used on the one vs the other. I noticed that the camera that was using less storage was using H265 encoding, the one using larger amounts of storage was using H264 encoding. I went into the web interface for the camera that is using the...

Confused over frame rates, codecs and bitrates....

...en-route to the BI PC. Am I doing something incorrectly here to get these apparently low and very low fps rates? Should I use H264, H264+, H265 or H265+ as a setting? I believe that both sub and main stream should have the same codec, frame rate and key frame interval. Assuming the PC can...

    Axis maturity with Hikvision pricing?

...Axis camera is the M3046. Important features for my setup: format: dome Resolution: 4MP or higher recording: to SMB shares in H264 (or nicer H265) smart motion detection that doesn't record moving trees/bushes and is not triggered by sudden light (sun) changes. My Hikvision cameras are a...

Excessive CPU load with newer versions than 5.8.6.7 version of BI

Yes. That would be nice. There are motion zone masks to reduce false detections on some cameras. But it would de-compress the stream anyway to hand frames over to AI. So it's de-compressing frames on motion trigger. That's a considerable work to do. And it may do resize to AI input, but I'm not...

Excessive CPU load with newer versions than 5.8.6.7 version of BI

Something still seems off. Folks run 50 cams on a 4th gen at half the CPU% you are running. I don't know if the FPS for main and sub not matching is a cause or if BI is struggling with H265 - what camera makes and models? https://ipcamtalk.com/posts/733399/

    BI delay

BI can struggle with H265 as some manufacturers play with the codec, but it takes more camera CPU to process H265 than H264, so some cameras struggle. Just because they offer H265 doesn't mean it can do efficiently. Most here run H264.

I will give these a try, but I have a question. I thought H265 was supposed to be much more cpu friendly than 264, is that not the case?

    Hikvision POE cameras

...on them yet as havent got them put up yet. I did check the specs vs the NVR and they both do H264 encoding. Although the NVR doesnt support H265 from memory. I think we should be ok. NVR supports up to 6mp camera so the 4mp ones are a decent option. I think I covered all the basis...

Are Evaluation Versions Now Fully Functional?

As I mentioned in your other thread, just because a camera offers H265 doesn't mean it handles it efficiently. And if it is the same camera you were testing in that thread where you have to drop the camera down in resolution just to be able to use H264, that is telling that it isn't a very...

    Good IPCameras that support OpenIPC

    Good IPCameras that support OpenIPC

...the main thing is the way companies lock things down and don't have ONVIF support even though clearly the chip implicitly supports H264 and H265/+ when the hardware specs clearly state that and you know its a matter of firmware that is blocking ONVIF type access its a bit of a crapshoot. Is a Core i5 6500 Rig Still Considered a Feasible BI Platform?

According to the benchmarks, your i7-4790 is better than your i5-6500, so that probably explains some of it. Again, just because a camera offers H265 doesn't mean it handles it efficiently. The fact that you have to drop it down in resolution to use H264 is telling. Working with an NVR or VLC...

Is a Core i5 6500 Rig Still Considered a Feasible BI Platform?

As I said above, QuickSync/hardware acceleration may or may not be your friend. And don't get too fascinated with H265 either. Everyone likes to try digital zooming. That is where you can see the differences. Plus when/if you need to export out video for police or what not, H265 can be...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

None of those things are their standards. I'm talking about standards to their industry. Eg mounting holes on every ATX motherboard are in the same position regardless of manufacturer and model. You can't even get the same mounting holes on a security camera from the same manufacturer.

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Well, they should at least stop using industry standard terms inappropriately! But Ethernet, POE, HDMI, USB, RTSP, ONVIF, h265, ftp, https, the list goes on… there’s a lot of standards-based stuff being used in these NVRs. And the PFH101 shows they are at least passively aware of racking standards.
