...much less power output than a POE version. Don't mess with injectors, use a POE+ gigabyte switch with the number of ports you need, such as a Netgear Prosafe line. You can if your handy, change out the fans in the POE version of the NVR by using Noctua brand of fans to make it much quieter.

Good point. I didn't think of that, so it may boil down to price vs. convenience if both models are fairly comparable. Aesthetics and noise won't play any part as it's going to be moved to a hidden area (my current build is practically silent thanks to the fractal designs case and noctua fans).

Yeah I discovered Noctua somewhere in my Googling. The the cheap fans in the nightowl dvrs were horrific. I got two of the NF-A40x10's. They make it hugely more tolerable to be around the machines.

I use Noctua coolers exclusively. They are very quiet and efficient.

I have an assortment of Netgear PoE switches as well. Latest addition is a JGS524PE. It sounded like a hairblower until I swapped out the fan with a Noctua fan.

No experience with your NVR model, but I’d recommend getting Noctua fans as they are really quiet if noise is a consideration. Not cheap at $14 a piece on Amazon... It’s probably easier to run the fan off the hard drive cables

Noctua makes quiet fans in that size if your a tinkerer. I tossed one in my Nightowl and It restored my faith in humanity.

I've done the Noctua fan mod on 2 of my Ubiquiti rack devices (500W POE switch and router) and WOW did they ever quiet them down. Was so happy with that upgrade.
