Anyone tried adjusting focus on Dahua fixed-lens turrets?

It can be done and it's not hard, but very time consuming. You have to take down the camera, open up the case, and adjust the lens by a 1/4 turn. Remount, test, rinse, repeat.

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Yeah, interesting right? at least the hikvision and DB11 both have large capacitors inside expressly for this purpose. I assume most wifi Doorbells are designed similarly

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Oh, no kidding. I thought the port on the doorbell was data only. That's great news. I'll update the chart in the first post. What's the included splitter used for then?

CPU increase when HW acceleration ON?

Good question. I've tried to update this machine in the past, but the 1903 build keeps being rejected for some reason.

CPU increase when HW acceleration ON?

Hi All, I've encountered a strange increase in CPU consumption recently and hoping someone can help. I've been on BI since version 3 and this is the first time I've seen something like this. Windows 10 on my BI server recently auto updated (build 1803 cumulative updates). After reboot, I noted...

Dahua DB11 Summary - is this best doorbell for now?

Based on reports from others, yes. I do not have a mechanical chime, so I cannot verify this.

Wyze Cam - Usable with Blue Iris?

Oh, forgot one thing. I noticed BI hardware decode doesn't seem to play nice with the wyze RTSP feed. If it doesn't connect properly, try disabling hardware accelerated decode in Blue Iris.

Dahua DB11 Summary - is this best doorbell for now?

It probably isn't. The solution to multiple rings is to change the chime to electronic mode in the app settings

Setting 2 types of motion detection in 1 camera?

Sorry if this has been asked and covered before. I couldn't quite find the answer, so any suggestions are appreciated. I'd like to set some cameras in BI to have different levels of motion detection. For example, for one camera, I would like to have one type of detection which is more...

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

I was wondering the same thing about power delivery. In most cases, POE should be able to correctly negotiate the current it needs. However, voltage may be a different situation altogether. That said, my Unifi access points are able to auto negotiate the voltage (spec is 24V, but my switch is 48V)

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

Oh. Interesting. I assumed the yoosee emulated the behavior of normal pushbutton doorbells like the DB11 or the Hikvision. In those cases, you can configure the DB11 or Hikvision to create a dead short on the power lines, just like a standard doorbell, causing the doorbell to ring. This feature...

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

If it operates like the other doorbell cams, you can install a relay directly on the power lines to read the voltage drop when the doorbell button is pressed. The relay can then be used to trigger a home automation device. This is a good alternative if the doorbell isn't sending button presses...

Why is it so hard to find affordable in-wall outdoor POE cams?

Funny. I never had this need before, but just earlier this week found myself in a position where an in wall camera would be perfect. I also quickly discovered in wall options seem to be very limited. In my case, I'd like a face height mounted camera to verify who is coming in/out. Similar to...

Huh? Dahua sends events to pullpointsubscription too. At least for the ONVIF models

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

The yousee comes with a splitter included. Looks like a pretty good deal. I'm afraid I can't speak to the quality directly as I don't have one. I REALLY love the idea of raspi-based doorbell. I toyed with the idea a little, and it would be a fun project to tackle, but personally I haven't had...

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Good question. These doorbell style models are meant to be used as easy replacements to existing doorbells. The manufacturers take some basic steps to secure the doorbell to the wall, but it's not going to stop someone really determined - if you've seen a Ring doorbell in person, these devices...

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

I retested this myself again today with the latest firmware. Unfortunately, the results are inconclusive. I cut a tiny piece of tape to completely cover the lens to ensure software motion detection was disabled and verify the onboard PIR was working. It worked... sort of (inconsistently is the...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Try closing and reconnecting. Might take a few tries. On my laview camera with IVMS4200, it doesn't always appear. The settings you need to adjust are in a menu titled "CCD." Right above "image" See attached.

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

I don't use the hikvision app with the DB2, so I'm afraid I can't say. The wifi connection has been very stable for me for both the DB2 and DB11, but good signal strength is probably a must.

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

It's close, but between the two doorbells, I would give a SLIGHT edge to the Hikvision. The factory settings for video quality are washed out and a tiny bit worse than the Dahua. However, this can be tuned with iVMS-4200, and the different faceplate options are helpful. It's also worth nothing...

Wyze Cam - Usable with Blue Iris?

Oops, I mistyped earlier. There is no beta 3. After beta v2 came RC1 which I linked about 5 posts up from here. I still haven't tried it yet. I don't know why they don't just update the top post. Agree its an annoyance, but for a $35 camera which didn't officially support RTSP in the first...

Script to Detect Colour, Make and Model of Car and People from IP Camera (Updated July 2019)

I assumed that would be another way to define direction. Unfortunately, in our environment, the driveway cameras are zoomed in pretty tight. The cars take up a large part of the frame, so there probably won't be enough "runway" so to speak to determine a difference in direction between...

Wyze Cam - Usable with Blue Iris?

Oh, wow. Even on V3 of the Beta firmware? I did have the VLC restart issue on V1, but after changing to V2 it's been rock solid. Because it's been stable, I didn't bother to update to V3.
