    Interesting, thanks!

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Damn, that sucks. Any reason you prefer tripwires over intrusion boxes? And wow you seemingly get a lot of animal activity lol.

Best way to power IR illuminators 250' or 500' away?

That is disappointing but makes sense. That might be a future project lol...or try find some kind of solar/battery solution. Thank you for the in depth explanation and the link

Best way to power IR illuminators 250' or 500' away?

As the topic asks, what's the best way of doing this? I didn't really want to hijack this thread: Best way to power IR illuminator from POE switch, not using Cat6 and splitter I don't understand the electric side of things/voltage drop well enough. Can PoE with a splitter really power this...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

That's what I've got going too lol edit: Snowed all night last night. I guess old firmware IVS is still susceptible to those false alerts, my cameras were triggering constantly lol. Although it was crazy how much of a difference turning off the internal IR and only using external illuminator's...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

I think I've got good news... I believe I found a firmware for the 5442 zoom (T5442T-ZE) cameras that works for animal detection! I was hoping to confirm it last night before posting this but of course the animals didn't want to cooperate! I decided to post it anyway so @tigerwillow1 (or anyone...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Thank you, I guess I'll try downgrading the firmwares if I find any older versions that look viable and post back if anything is successful (however unlikely)...I only started buying these cameras back in August so I can't imagine my Z12E is that old/lacking "WizSense" lol.

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

I got three T5442TM-AS cameras set up yesterday and just enabled IVS alerts this morning (and also a group trigger for one of the 5442 zoom cameras ). Flashing all three to the .8 FW went well, hopefully everything works! I'm still trying to understand the naming conventions of the firmware...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

That's disappointing lol. I'm getting more comfortable/an understanding with this firmware stuff. I'm going to flash and install my first three T5442TM's next weekend and get some experience with successful animal detection with tripwires and intrusion zones. After that I'll definitely guinea...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

I'm very interested to hear your results! FYI on a related subject while googling firmware's I found a couple of interesting posts that might be helpful to know (even if this is a little off topic): You can confirm compatibility by checking the supported HWIDs in the firmware file And it's...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Thank you! One quick question although hopefully I don't make things too confusing...I had asked Andy about acquiring the firmware last week when I bought the cameras from him and he said the name of firmware you listed in the OP didn't seem right. I'm not sure if you ever confirmed you got...

    Help setting up VTO2311R-WP doorbell?

Ah, I haven't tried the bell at night thanks!...and figured I might adding another IR illuminator to the front of the house lol I'll take another read of the/your mechanical chime thread, it didn't really seem that bad I was just hoping for an easy way out! Interesting workaround, I'll take a...

    Help setting up VTO2311R-WP doorbell?

I'm not finding a lot of information on setting up this doorbell cam? (Probably should have researched it further before buying but I only had a few hours Andy's autumn sale ended lol) I've got it configured and added to BI, but it's based on the new Web Service2.0 firmware so between that and...

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

I need to install a PoE switch in a barn. It'll be protected from the elements but naturally not climate controlled or anything. I imagine I should still go for an outdoor rated switch? I don't see too many options. There is a (what looks like) cheap, no-name brand on amazon...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Oh, right, the main thing with PTZ is getting them pointed in the right direction first so they can then track on their own.
  17. E

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Ah, ok, thank you. Yeah, I was expecting auto tracking with the camera following the motion, but kind of knew it wouldn't work with animals. At least I have realistic expectations now. Wow, that's actually very impressive it catches animals that small (even if it is hit and miss). With BI...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

Thank you @tigerwillow1 for this entire thread. So if I'm understanding correctly, the best workaround for reliable onvif alerts (IVS triggers? Not entirely sure what I'm talking about lol) for animals from Dahua cameras is to pick up 1-2 older T5442TM-AS cameras and flash an older firmware on...

Best PTZ Camera options? (Could be a -treat yourself- budget)

Love it, thanks! and somehow I can work around the Dahua cameras ignoring animals?

Best PTZ Camera options? (Could be a -treat yourself- budget)

Hi, I'm looking to order a few more cameras including a PTZ. (Going even bigger than I was expecting with Andy's sale this weekend!) Budget is conceivably <= $2,000 (if it's worth it). The camera will be used for recording/tracking animals in the backyard (without light at night, but with...

Of course all I had to do was mention how well it's been working for it to start happening again. lol

    Blue Iris UI3

On my computer it's actually been good since I re-enabled hardware acceleration, I've seen the green flashes on my phone (in the mobile Chrome browser, not the BI app) a couple times but can't screenshot that as easily/quickly.

    Blue Iris UI3

Lol of course it's good right now no matter how many clips I try to watch! I'll try to get one tomorrow though lol

    Blue Iris UI3

FWIW, even after turning off hardware acceleration in Chrome and relaunching the browser, it's still occurring for me (remotely via VPN) and my mom (who is local on the LAN). Happens with both the HTML5 player and javascript. 1440p. I'm not sure what other info would be helpful. Thanks!

IP Cam Talk Custom Community DeepStack Model

Nice, thank you for the reply! As a quick suggestion, the one animal I was hoping for that's missing from the animal models, would be a moose. Any plans on adding it? (Although I suspect there's a good chance it would be flagged as a Horse at a minimum lol.)

IP Cam Talk Custom Community DeepStack Model

I see on @MikeLud1's github there are two custom model projects DeepStack-Security-Camera-Models and CodeProject.AI-Custom-IPcam-Models. It appears like the CodeProject.AI-Custom-IPcam-Models has been updated more recently? I'm currently using DS not CP, are the CP pt models backwards compatible...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Yeah, 3x 5442 (and a 5241). I'm only using BI to check for motion. I saw that Dahua wants to cut down on animal false alerts, so no ONVIF triggers are set up. Which is unfortunate because I hear the camera AI is very good. Lol thanks for the advice. For now I mounted the straps with just a...
