I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Without knowing the rest of the settings on your camera and distance, I think the key here is going to be adding more white light or running it in IR. How does the image look if you zoom out all the way or only zoom it in about 10%?

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

If you didn’t already know, maximum bitrate is not like constant bitrate (CBR) in Dahua cameras. Maximum bitrate will just prevent the camera from exceeding the maximum bitrate you set. The bitrate itself will still be variable. Variable bitrate provides the best image quality. With...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

FYI changing the Zipstream to medium will decrease the bitrate and decrease the image quality. Are you using Maximum bitrate for your bitrate control? That max bitrate is too low. With those settings I recommend using variable bitrate.

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Go to image- exposure- and adjust the max gain to 63 (I'm pretty sure that's the default). That will brighten up the image a little but you will need to adjust additional settings. You can adjust the Blur-Noise tradeoff slider to less noise in small increments to see if that reduces the noise in...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

That threshold slider is for the IR Cut Filter. Notice if you disable the IR light or set the IR Cut filter to on the slider disappears. I suspect you manually activated the white light by clicking on the bulb icon in the image menu under the live preview. I don't think the white light...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

How do you have the white light set to activate? On a schedule or by rule activation? If by schedule, is the camera synced to an NTP server with the proper time zone selected?

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Np! It's even different from what I'm used to with other Axis cameras. I tested using the white LED's on my setup with WDR off and it actually works pretty well with the settings I mentioned in my previous post. Last time I tried full color at night I still had the WDR on with it in 4K mode and...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

I would recommend resetting to factory defaults and starting from there. You can reset all the values to default without losing the IP settings by going to maintenance and using the "restore" option. I run mine in IR mode at night because I don't have enough light in the field of view for color...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

No, it's not worth it for the average person for residential use. The price of these cameras aren't just for the image quality. These cameras come with 10 years of firmware updates to stay up to date with features and cybersecurity. They meet NDAA, TAA, FIPS 140-2 or 3 compliance, support zero...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Yeah, the settings on this camera are different, even when compared to other Axis cameras. I have my exposure set to 1/30 but the motion blur slider all the way to less blur. That seems to work for my field of view. What is your motion blur slider set to?

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

I’m not a huge fan of the WDR on this camera at night. How does the image look while people/vehicles are moving. What are your current settings?

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

The image you posted before looks like its 16:9. The 10MP setting is 4:3. Under video- Capture mode- is it set to 4K or 10MP 4:3? How are your results so far at night?

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Np! In my personal opinion, I'm disappointed with the Q1808 with low light performance when its fully zoomed in (my configuration). It performs really well when configured with a wide angle with white light. I also like the performance for the p1468 and Q3538 better than the Q1808. However, your...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

Just an FYI, The model Q1808-LE you purchased is designed and optimized for wide open areas like stadiums or illuminated parking lots etc. but depending on the distance it might still work well for you. For a better comparison to the B54IR-Z4E you would've been better off with the Q1806-LE or...

AXIS camera configuration in DAHUA NVR

That's frustrating.. Hopefully you can convince them to purchase the proper equipment.

AXIS camera configuration in DAHUA NVR

If you're using all Axis cameras and no Dahua cameras, why did you choose a Dahua NVR? That doesn't make any sense. If the Axis cameras are set to a variable bitrate, they most certainly are not streaming constantly at 2048. For Axis cameras, variable bitrate provides the best image quality but...

AXIS camera configuration in DAHUA NVR

Which Axis 4K cameras do you have? What Axis OS version are you running? What are your settings for framerate, Zipstream, and P-frames? What bitrate control are you using? Average, Maximum or Variable? How many Axis cameras do you have? How many Dahua cameras do you have? What's the maximum...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

I would avoid purchasing from Amazon if possible. Amazon is full of counterfeit products including wire. To the OP, I would stick with name brand alarm wire such as Honeywell Genesis.

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

Is the door sensor 500 feet from the panel or are you just trying to buy a box of 500 feet of wire? Generally, door/window sensors are wired with 22/2 or 22/4 wire. Motion detectors, glassbreaks and keypads are 22/4.

    Malware in EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T webplugin.exe

Correct, the key word here is, "when using Internet Explorer". That plug-in was required for Axis Cameras that were being viewed with internet explorer. As stated in my previous post, Axis added support for Google Chrome and Firefox in 2017. They did not remove the ability to view Axis cameras...

    Malware in EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T webplugin.exe

That's incorrect. Axis typically provides firmware updates on their cameras for about 10 years after the release of the product. Or according to their website, 6 years after the product is discontinued. The camera I purchased for my front door (Q3538-LVE) has Axis OS support until 12-31-2033. So...

    Malware in EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T webplugin.exe

I've used a handful of Axis cameras, Axis speakers and Axis Modules. I have never had to use internet explorer with any of those devices. All of them worked properly using Google Chrome without having to download any type of plugin or extension. I also recently attended the Axis Certified...

    Opnsense with Dahua NVR

I don't think there are any specific settings on Opnsense for emails. Did you put the Dahua NVR on a separate subnet or VLAN using Opnsense? If you created a separate subnet or VLAN on Opnsense, did you create a firewall rule to allow traffic to pass? If its anything like Pfsense, you have to...

Searching for a router that has a common DHCP and supports VLAN

I've also been using Pfsense for a few years and like any software, there's going to be something to gripe about. However, I disagree with you that Pfsense CE is not important to them anymore. Pfsense CE has received multiple updates within the past six months including updating OpenSSL to...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

Did you install the 12v backup battery on the Vista 20p? The system will not function properly without the battery attached. The vista also uses the battery to help power the sirens during an alarm. In regards to the siren making that noise, did you connect the 820ohm bell supervision resistor...

    Axis P3717 warming up

So this cameras was installed within the past few months? This camera is discontinued and replaced with a new model. What Axis OS version is the camera running.? I would recommend updating to the latest firmware (Axis OS 11.xx) and factory defaulting it. The only reason I wouldn’t update to OS...
