    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks. I guess you've never used an iPhone before, it doesn't work like any other computer device. What you suggest does not apply. But I did manage to get the file to my iPhone by emailing it as an attachment. At this point the iPhone does try to connect to the VPN but cannot. I can see the...

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to transfer the client file to my iPhone. All the instructions I can find tell me to click button s that don't exist or they don't bother to tell where these buttons are. Can someone please tell me how to go about getting the client file from my...

QR Code would be the easiest but that's not an option so I'll have to get the file onto the iPhone. Wish Apple wouldn't make it so difficult.

    VPN Primer for Noobs

The instructions i used to setup OpenVPN were loooong. Took me all morning to slog through them. And in the end I had more questions than I started with. A lot more. And, as usual with these sorts of things, There were several settings mentioned that did not exist, I ssume because they were...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thank you sir. I've downloaded he OpenVPN client to my iphone but now I'm stuck on Import Profile. OpenVPN says to scan the QR Code and the iphone is asking for either a URL or a file. Previously I was using NAT to connect from the outside. Security has bothered me for a long time and now I'm...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thank you sir. I'm seeing the access attempt within Blue iris. I just slogged through setting up OpenVPN in OPNSense and now I'm even more confused than I've ever been. The only to devices I want to use the VPN is my iphone and the Blue iris server. Nothing in the instructions I followed said...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

OK, too much gibberish to slog through. I'm totally confused. My setup is as follows - IP cams are on a non routed dedicated subnet (no gateway and no DNS) Dedicated Blue Iris server. Device that needs to be able to connect from outside the local network - iPhone. That's it. All of the...

Blue Iris picked the above cam. I'll try others and see what I can come up with. It sure would be nice if BI listed this exact cam.

What's the best make and model to set this cam up in Blue Iris? Right now it's set up as - It would be nice if I could access mechanical zoom from BI. TIA

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

I have 2 of these that have been running 24/7 for years. Never expected them to last this long. They run under Blue Iris so the native interface doesn't matter but yea, it sucks, as does all Chinese software.

Does it make sense to disable the admin account?

I tried and failed to get Stunnel to work. :( All of my cams are on their own subnet which is not routed to the Internet. Blue Iris itself is so I can access it from anywhere and Blue Iris is constantly being dinged by parties unknown from all over the world. Recently somebody got in for 43...

Does it make sense to disable the admin account?

I assume that the majority of access attempts are aimed at the admin account. Provided there is another user with admin privileges, can the admin account be safely disabled? Does it even make sense? TIA

Once again I need some BI help. Networking

Yea, BI is the only computer that has access to 192.168.5.x, the rest just access the web server to see the cams. It's been like this for years. I recently upgraded my BI computer because the old one was struggling to manage 11 cams. The new one is much better. but I still have issues to work...

Once again I need some BI help. Networking

True, but it's much simpler to forget about 192.158.5.x and just deal with BI. When I need to I remote into the BI server to access BI itself but the cams I never have to bother with.

Once again I need some BI help. Networking

Because I cannot access 192.168.5.x from any other computer unless it has a second NIC, they are all on 192.168.1.x. And then I can only access the cams directly and not through BI. If I connect to the web server via 192.168.1.x then it works like it should. It seems to me that the web server...

Once again I need some BI help. Networking

Thanks for replying Tony. I managed somehow to stumble upon the solution. It was in a drop down that listed 192.1.x. I selected it and am now able to access the BI locally. Still have an issue with remote access but I'll work through it. In answer to your question, I'd rather not expose my cams...

Once again I need some BI help. Networking

My BI server has 2 network interfaces. The first is 192.168.1.x. this is the interface that's connected to the internet. The second interface is 192.168.5.x. This is the interface that the ip cameras are on and they are not connected to the internet except through BI. I just set this new server...

I bought my 64" Plasma TV form amazon many years ago and at the time their service was stellar. It was delivered in a van by two people who could not have been more careful with it and the box was pristine. Sad to hear that times have changed.
