Anyone Running Cat6 Cable & Mains in Parallel

Low voltage (ethernet) cable should cross mains cable at a 90 degree angle. It should not be run with any high voltage cable in the same piece of conduit (may be a code violation I believe). If you need to run low voltage cable in parallel, it should be at least 12" away from the high voltage cable.

    New Firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.zip

I would suggest connecting directly to the POE switch and not using the 12v plug for power to the camera.

    New Firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.zip

If you have a default gateway set up in the network settings, remove that. Is the camera normally run off the power supply or a POE switch?

    New Firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.zip

Is the camera connected directly to the pc or is it connected to your router? If connected to your router, I would suggest connecting to your pc either directly or via a POE switch if you are able to do so.

Did you set the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0? If not, try that.

A Google search for that model number does not bring anything up. Did the installer not provide you with a user manual? Who is the manufacturer of the DVR?

    Need to reset DVR

Welcome to the forum. Did you ask the company for the password? If so, what did they say? Are you paying maintenance to them? If not and they are refusing to give you the password, I'd suggest never doing business with them again. In order for anyone to assist you further, you really need to...

    Stymied trying to install IPC-HDW5231R-ZE

Once you know what the ip address and subnet mask are for the camera, set your Mac's ip address to one in the same range and set the subnet mask to the same as the camera.

I'm not familiar with that camera. What does the manual say is the default ip address?

Can you clarify a little bit more? Are you able to ping the ip address of the camera?

    Stymied trying to install IPC-HDW5231R-ZE

Plug your camera into a powered POE port and your Mac into the non-powered POE port as a safe option. I don't know what model switch you have, but usually you can plug a computer into a powered POE port without any damage to the computer.

Multiple questions on weather proofing connections, air gap, mounting, protection for garage rack UPS and PSU

Welcome to the forum. Ideally you want a network rack with fans if it's going to get quite hot. The cold should not be an issue unless the temperature drop is that substantial that there is a risk of condensation. Bullet cameras are not usually recommended due to spiders and their webs. As for...

    Camera Subnet

Just for the record, I'm not trying to be an a$$ about this ^^. Are you not able to manually assign the cameras with an ip address as per the user manual?
  26. H

    Camera Subnet

That is exactly how it should be because it is on a different subnet. You are using a 24 bit subnet mask (255.255.255.0) on the pc network which is /24 and not /32 as you keep referring to. /16 is a 16 bit subnet mask (255.255.0.0). For a /16 network you can have 2^16 network addresses and 2^16...

Recurring Camera Failures in Same Location

  28. H

    Camera Subnet

What are the subnet masks for each network? Anything that follows the / indicates the number of network bits used i.e. /32 means you are using 32 bits for the network portion of the address and 0 bits for the host address.

Any good guide on do it youself video surveillance?

Welcome to the forum. Wired is the way to go for reliability. Use a managed POE switch for securing the network side of things along with a VMS (Blue Iris) and you should be all set.

Hello from NE Pennsylvania, total newbie with some questions

Welcome to the forum. For the exterior turret cameras are usually recommended as bullets suffer from spiders and their webs and domes are prone to having reflection issues due to the dome. I'd suggest running your own VMS (Blue Iris) along with a managed POE switch as this will give you the...
