IVS camera settings vs NVR IVS settings

I understand IVS rules are set on the camera. However, the record settings on the camera appear to relate to LOCAL storage (SD Card). Yes? No? It's unfortunate how complicated unclear the various pieces are. I'm usually good with all things low-voltage and web based technologies, but IP camera &...

IVS camera settings vs NVR IVS settings

One remaining question I would have is if you put settings on the NVR side how do you undo those safely and cleanly?

    Synology Surveillance Station advanced settings

I have one of my cameras on an DS920+ and used the settings below. However, I had to choose a different model as it did not recognize my IPC-B5442E-ZE. Overall, the features are very good, but not $50 a camera good. I'll likely move to BlueIris at some point (currently on Dahua DVR).

Synology FTP + Dahua IVS events

I’ve found the same issue testing on my DS920+ It appears to be uploading all motion snapshots vs. IVS events. It’s frustrating and confusing. The NVR software is a maze of choices not well documented. Apparently, the only choice is moving to Blue Iris, but I haven’t had the time to go down...

Are Dahua NVR event 'thumbnail images' visible on any mobile apps?

Anyone? The lack of images seem to imply snapshots or representative thumbnails can be used

DMSS mobile app thumbnail images - supported?

Running Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 with mostly IPC-HDW5442T-ZE cameras. In the DMSS and DMSSHD apps, it seems there are placeholder images where snapshots should be showing up - representing events as viewable on the NVR. Is there a way to get these populated with actual snapshot images?

Good choice for a porch view?

UPDATE: After factory reset and being careful to NOT apply IVS rules to more than one of the 2 cameras, I was able to successfully run IVS rules. This camera's features are highly misrepresented IMHO. But I'll be able to work around it's limitations.

Good choice for a porch view?

Curious to know if you own one of these? I purchased one from Andy, but am finding it appears to be limited in IVS options - will not recognize rules such as 'abandoned object'. Nor does it support SMR, which I did not realize. For all the success I've had so far with Dahua and Andy, this may...

Are Dahua NVR event 'thumbnail images' visible on any mobile apps?

The DMSS app uses placeholder thumbnail images for event snapshots. This leads me to believe actual snapshots could / should be available. I've set all events to record snapshots as well as record. One can see in the NVR interface - there are lovely cropped images. This would be an ideal way...

Dahua ip camera garbled audio (solved)

WOW - thank you so much. I didn't think to dig there. Like most Dahua app/interfaces, this setting's location makes no sense.

Good choice for a porch view?

I knew someone was going to say that. And for networking in general I would agree. However, for IP cameras I could not find evidence of benefits for 6. 1000Mbps is plenty for a camera, and 5e is easier to 'fish' / less bulky. The one CAT 6 cable I do have was harder to run, and more difficult...

Good choice for a porch view?

Appreciate all the fast input. I knew that angle was not ideal - it was left over from years ago and was surprised it was usable on the new setup. Now to run CAT-5e in the attic before it gets hot.

Good choice for a porch view?

All other cameras are Dahua/current and I’m continuing to add. The front entrance is covered by this one.

I’ve seen that one. Excellent suggestion. Thank you!

Good choice for a porch view?

I should have added that I do plan to reduce the height as well - yes, good point. And the goal is to receive intelligent alerts when packages are dropped, or someone rings the doorbell - we can see who's there / what's there, etc. Simple motion sensing made that goal impractical. Even better- a...

Good choice for a porch view?

I’m currently running several IPC-HDW5442T-ZE cameras and are connected to a NVR5216-4KS2. One old Foscam is integrated into the mix at the front door. (Pictured below) Now that I realize the importance/usefulness of SMD vs. basic motion detection - I want to upgrade. However, I think a...

Dahua ip camera garbled audio (solved)

I too am experiencing the garbled audio, but had already disabled the noise filtering. It seems the poor sound is only a problem when playing back on iOS (iPhone, iPad), but sounds fine on a PC. Curious to know what audio codec and bitrate everyone uses, and if that helps. (AAC vs. G711a, etc.)

    5216 PoE vs 5432 no-PoE noise level

I'll be moving to BI at some point so you'd be wise to start out that way. NVRs are faster to get up and running, but the interface and usability haven't evolved as much as they should have over the past 10+ years.

    5216 PoE vs 5432 no-PoE noise level

The 5216 is noisy, but easy to fix by replacing the fan: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-A4x20-5V-3-Pin-Premium/dp/B072Q3CMRW/ I did just that and it made all the difference. (confirm that size fan before you order though - I was looking at two sizes...I think that's the one I ordered)

Ready to commit - point me in the right direction please

I too am a curmudgeon I guess. I already have too many PCs, NAS, and other things with blinky lights. The single purpose NVR would get me up an running the fastest - and I could take my time indulging/testing BI. Thank you.

Curious to know why a built-in PoE switch vs. a separate switch? Are there any advantages?

Ready to commit - point me in the right direction please

Please bear with my ramblings and advise... These are all statements I'm hoping to get confirmation on how accurate my perceptions are - I've read & re-read forums and the wiki here for months, if not years. Like many, I'm overwhelmed with the options, and fear overlooking more recent...
