Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

I've got the camera mounted right over the door. I used 1/2 electrical PVC to run the wire into an accessible wall. I used a Dahua junction box to mount the camera. Turned out reasonably well.

Abode Security and Blue Iris Integration Project

Hey all, I'm working on developing an integration between my Abode security system and Blue Iris. Abode does support reporting alarms via IFTT APIs. This could be used to send a web request to my Blue Iris machine to trigger some action. I'm not a big fan of relying on cloud APIs for...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

Here's a sample of me walking up to the door: https://goo.gl/photos/6Pn5ArgG87tMfFwM7 This is the 3.6mm one.

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

Sure I'll have to make an example of that later on. Honestly, I wish the camera was BESIDE the door. If you can mount it lower than above the door, you'll be MUCH happier with the results. I don't often get clear faces of people walking up to the door. Thankfully I've got 2 other cameras on...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Yeah, its definitely a frustrating endeavor to set the 5216 up. I found I was second guessing myself at every step. "Did I accidentally forget to check that checkbox?" "Did I leave without hitting Save/Apply?" However, once it is set up you shouldn't have to do it again (hopefully). I...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I upgraded and then reset. I don't think it makes a difference though.

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I have not had any reboots so far since upgrading while running 9 Dahua cameras. So it seems to have helped. When you upgrade, reset everything to defaults and reconfigure it all. It sounds like a pain (and it is), but I worry the firmware upgrades don't migrate well so you could get...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

So wait, you were getting reboots with JUST Dahua cameras? Interesting. So far no reboots. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I'm pretty sure its not something I did. It would be a pretty big oops for me to open all the cameras and delete the username and password. :) I used SmartPSS to add the Hikvision camera since the web UIs were all still broken for me. I suspect it is probably an interaction with SmartPSS and...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I had tried adding the Hik camera this evening. It turns out in the process of doing that, the NVR deleted the logins/passwords for ALL of the cameras, so nothing recorded for a span of 3 hours until I have a chance to fix it. Thankfully BlueIris keeps humming along. I've got the Hikvision...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

Hmm, too bad the missing frames issue isn't fixed. I'll see if my experience mirrors this. I had a hard time getting the reboots to start up again on my system prior to the update as well. It seems like the motion detection turned off on the HIK on its own, and then the problem went away. It...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I will do some IVS event testing tonight and see if the missed frames problem still persists. I have seen no reboots so far, however I haven't got the HIK hooked up to the NVR at the moment. I'm planning to reconnect it once I've verified the NVR is relatively stable without it.

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

So far stable with recording IVS events from just the Dahua cameras. I'll try re-adding the Hik in a few days and see if things keep being stable.

The other change from my last setup is I do not have the hik camera added. I will have to add it to ensure the setup is comparable Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

Hmm, strange. SmartPSS now shows full footage now. Nothing seems to be missing. I'll keep an eye on it I guess. Hrrrm.

    Need suggestion for front door

I'm using a Dahua 2MP Starlight IR Mini Dome Network camera IPC-HDBW4231F-AS at my front door. It's pretty recessed. I run the camera flipped 90 degrees and it gets coverage right up from the door out into the yard. At night there is enough light from the front door lamp that I never run it in...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I didn't have a chance to check the logs before leaving in the morning, but I'm going to dig into it deeper when I get home. Blue Iris has full video for all cameras in that time, so it was definitely an NVR glitch of some sort. I'll have to try uninstalling the plugin on Internet Explorer and...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

Well, I updated the firmware last night and reconfigured from scratch.. I don't know if this is an improvement. Lol. The Internet Explorer UI is also completely borked. Need to use the NaCL plugin in chrome now. So... yeah.

    10 cameras - Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz

Yup, I've got my cameras hooked up to both. It seems to work just fine so far. Hah, yeah I hear you on the budget. My camera system is way over budget. I'm glad my old Intel i5 system works just fine with Blue Iris.

    10 cameras - Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz

If you aren't returning the Dahua NVR you might as well just keep it recording 24/7, not triggered by events. Then you've got a backup, which is always nice. :)

    10 cameras - Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz

I set up motion detection in two zones on my front cameras: 1. Street/sidewalk -- this captures cars going by and pedestrians walking around. I figure these would help in a situation where a neighbor asks, "Hey did you see a blue camry go by?" or something like that. 2. Premise intrusion --...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

With these latest crashes the HIK camera was indeed connected to the NVR. I'm going to run with all cameras in record-only for a while and see how it goes. If after a couple weeks its stable I will try re-enabling the motion detect events on the HIKVISION camera and see if it causes any...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

These are brand new hard drives, both used for less than a couple months. The SMART diagnostics for the drives shows no issues at all. However who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if the firmware on these NVRs is over sensitive to slight glitches in drives. I've NEVER had an issue in ~20 yrs...

Dahua NVR Reboots during the day

I've sent Andy the log snippets as well as the full logs. Hopefully the software folks at Dahua can figure something out. For now, my NVR is set to only record continuous and to ignore events completely (motion and IVS). I'll see if that increases stability.
