    Review-Dahua IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M Dual Starlight Cam

Domes are notorious for having problems when the camera is mounted in a way where something close reflects IR back towards the camera. If you could post a day/night picture from your camera, that would make it easier to troubleshoot.

When do you use a junction box for mounting a POE turret camera?

Around my neck of the woods, it seems likes most exterior cameras on commercial buildings using junction boxes. On residential houses, it's 50/50. I personally prefer the look of cameras mounted flush (i.e. no box), but that's just me. I have nine exterior cameras around my house. Eight are...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

In my neck of the woods I was told I would need two clear pictures before the police would be able to do anything: one of the license plate and another one that shows the driver. This was in regards to people driving across a community greenway next to my house because it's a shorter route out...

Can't fix Dahua AI Camera's error: 2.0.6 Algorithm version does not match, please upgrade firmware.bin

I'm not 100% sure this applies, but you might check this thread to see if it helps any: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/important-ivs-failed-and-triangle-warnning-issue-solutions-for-4mp-ai-models.42966/

NVR systems - Dahua or Hikvision...or other?

Most Dahua/Hik NVRS don't have enough processor power to do their own motion detection and rely on the cameras doing it themselves. IMO, basic motion detection on most cameras is the worst. While you can usually de-select certain areas (like you were asking), the controls you have for the rest...

When do you use a junction box for mounting a POE turret camera?

If you don't use a junction box, you'll have to drill a larger hole in the horizontal wood surface to stuff the camera's larger waterproof Ethernet connector through. If you use a junction box, the size of the hole that you drill only needs to be large enough to get unterminated Ethernet cable...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

The tech that has the biggest influence on low-light image quality is the image sensor, and IMO there's nothing fast about that tech segment. :D From mid-2016 until mid-2019, the Sony STARVIS 2MP 1/2.8" image sensor is what you'd find in the best $120-$250 low-light cameras from Dahua/Hik...

Why does Blue Iris require administrator privileges (UAC prompt)?

Like mentioned above, BI is pretty much a one-person company and his name is Ken. I've had one other person do some initial triage on two of my trouble tickets a few years back, but that's about it.

    Decisions on which turret camera

I agree with the suggestions above about checking out the 5442 models... they have better low-light image performance that the 5231s you're looking at (in your original post), plus they're 4MP. Like @IAmATeaf mentioned, the only 5442 turrets that Dahua has ready-to-go-today are fixed-lens...

    Fine tune motion

Also if you haven't seen the tutorial videos that one of the forum members here made, they've been helpful: Blue Iris Video Tutorials They are based on Blue Iris V4, but the general gist behind how motion detection works (and how to tune it) still apply IMO.

    New Hikvision ECI-T24F4, ECI-T24F2

If low-light performance is of interest, you can user a camera's minimum illumination spec to get a rough idea about what ballpark it's in. Comparing that spec between different manufactures gets a little more dicey, but I think it's still useful for generalizing. Minimum illumination for that...

Can I rotate video in Blue Iris if I mount this cam on the ceiling ? Amcrest 4MP UltraHD Indoor WiFi Camera

Glad to help but it was quick ad-hoc testing so be hopeful but don't take it as gospel.

Can I rotate video in Blue Iris if I mount this cam on the ceiling ? Amcrest 4MP UltraHD Indoor WiFi Camera

I was just able to use BI (5.2.5.10) to rotate and flip one of my cameras as a test. I'm sure BI uses more CPU when you do that, but I didn't notice any crazy jumps on my system.

    BEST cam under $300

I don't know anyone here who would give you a DISHONEST answer... "ABSOLUTE BEST" depends on how you're going to use a camera. There is rarely a camera that is the "ABSOLUTE BEST" in every situation. So in other words, telling folks here the specs you want in a camera (hardwired, FOV, no...

Thanks for having me, going to ask about free or diy cloud storage

If the burglar is coming in at night, all he has to do is hold a flashlight in front of his face and aim it at your cameras as he approaches them and they're not going get a usuable clip of him. There are a lot of easy ways to work around camera systems. This is why folks here repeat that...

    IPC-T5442TM-AS vs IPC-T3241-ZAS vs IPC-T2231T-ZS

IIRC, the 0.002 lux min illumination on the 2231 S2/3241 should be a good bit better than the 5231’s 0.006 lux.

    What decoder is used.

FWIW, the BI Developer (Ken) doesn't visit these forums, so your best bet to get him a suggestion is to send it in via a support email.

What's the best Low Light Turret Hikvision Cam this very moment?

If you have brand flexibility, Dahua has a series of cameras (5442) that use the same "bigger" 4MP 1/1.8" image sensor that the ColorVu uses, plus they have IR. These models have become very popular here over the last year. Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+ They've also...
