    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

Yea, I am assuming that is just a link to Download V5 and not enter payment information for a license.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

Unless I am wrong, most 1/1.2 cameras do not see IR and still rely on ambient light. If you don't have enough light, you will want to look at the 4MP 1/1.8 offerings.

I believe with newer NVRs you can access the camera's UI through a link within the NVR that opens a web browser. With Blue Iris, you will always open a web browser manually, enter the IP, and then log in to the camera.

    Yep, pretty much.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

Correct. The zoom and focus will be adjusted by going to the camera's IP and using the interface, the same with all of the other exposure and image settings.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

Bingo. The mentality a lot of people have is they want to see everything, but when it comes time to use their capture as evidence they lack the detail. It also doesn't help that most Box systems will come with 2.8mm cameras and only exacerbates the problem. One camera cannot do it all. You...

    Exact same height/location.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

You can see the specs if you scroll down in the details. This is also why it is recommended to go with a varifocal (T54IR-ZE) unless you know the focal length you need. With the -ZE you are able to adjust between 2.7mm and 12mm. Varifocal set to 2.7mm Varifocal set to 12mm And, yes. I...

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

For instance, here is a 2.8mm focal length vs a 3.6mm focal length. 2.8mm lets you see more, but you lose detail. 3.6mm narrows the FOV, but you get much better detail.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

    Don't confuse 2.8mm, 3.6mm, and 6mm with 1/2.8, 1/1.8, and 1/1.2.

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

That is focal length. This is when the original questions come into play. 2.8mm only sees so far and is wider angle. 3.6mm sees further, but is usually about 90* FOV. 6mm sees even further, but again, has a narrower FOV. Here is one of my threads with different cameras and FOVs that can...

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

5442 was the common nickname for the shortened Dahua model number of the camera. Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY) is an OEM rebranded reseller for Dahua, he sells them as Empiretech. He has re-modeled this camera as T54IR-AS (T for turret, 5 is the series, 4 is 4MP, IR for IR) This is the camera I linked...

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

I am sure @wittaj will chime in with his typical post, but there are different "bests". 2MP and 1/2.8 is a matched combo, and used to be "best" before 4MP and higher resolutions became available on properly matched combinations. 4MP at 1/1.8 is better than 2MP and 8MP at 1/1.2 is even better...

    2MP 1/2.8" sensor camera

2MP and 1/2.8 is the correct combination, but not always ideal. 4MP an 1/1.8 is also the correct match up, and also ideal Both have their uses. Are you wanting to Detect, Observe, Recognize, Identify? Where are you looking to install? What is your light situation like?

What is your use case? This is the typically recommended 4MP camera, on a larger sensor than 1/2.8. https://empiretech01.com/products/empiretech-ipc-t54ir-as-1-1-8-cmos-4mp-ir-fixed-focal-eyeball-network-camera
