Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

It is funny you mention new starlights I am eyeing the IPC-B5442E-Z4E 4MP Starlight+ as my next purchase to get a different angle for my LPR setup but I want to keep tweaking the settings of this camera to try and get some better results. The more I tweak the settings the better grasp I get on...

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

So I just got back from my vacation and was settling down when I got another hit on my LPR setup. I had tweaked my settings a little bit moving the shutter to 1/1000 and pushing up the IRIS just a tad to 46. This was a slow moving car and went right into frame but at 9PM it is pretty dark...

Happy to have found this site; working to learn as much as possible in a short time

I have to second the use of the IPVM camera calculator tool it has been such an eye opener for me and really helped me navigate to a specific camera for my current project of trying to obtain license plates at a long distance.

Thanks @DLONG2 when I get back from my vacation I will definitely tweak my settings a little bit more and then drive my car a few times to see the effects and edit again.

Thanks @bigredfish I will make those changes but I am leaving out of town today so it will be a few days before I am able to view the results. I will zoom in more without making other changes and see how it looks and then touch on the Iris. I think I will dedicate some time next week and do like...

Ya I will zoom in a bit more tonight the back plate was unreadable in my opinion because the angle was horrible. What other settings do you recommend to tweak do you want me to show you any of the other settings?

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

Here is another video I captures last night with the edits that were recommended. I changed the exposure to manual because shutter priority made the view extremely washed out. Hopefully it is just a little minor tweaking now. Unfortunately this car I don't believe had a front plate which was the...

Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

Just installed this for my IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E will be trying it out tonight changing to my night time profile and zooming in more for easier LPR. Thanks for creating such a useful tool as I build out my Dahua camera setup I think this will get more and more useful. @bp2008

Thanks for the comments I appreciate it. I will zoom in a little more but I am getting to the end of my range on the Z12 so I do hope that modifying some of the settings improves my results. Will report back tomorrow if I get another incident.

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

I reverted back to 50 on sharpness and gamma and moved my HLC to 60. When I changed to Shutter Priority the gain setting was removed as far as I can tell this was wittajs recommendation. I will see if those settings provide a better result tonight if not I will go back to manual and modify the gain.

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

So here is a short video of the same car around the same time but my video is worse now. See the settings I have below as well. One note I had wrong timezones in my camera so my camera went to B/W when it was almost dark outside so I wonder if this is a focus issue atm. Any comments would be...

Thanks I just checked and my shutter is currently at 1/4000 with B/W on and HLC on at 60. My IR is currently set to ZoomPrio at 90 correction should I change the IR to manual?

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

So I finally purchased my equipment to get my LPR up and running and installed it over the weekend. Last night I ran it with some settings I thought would be good but the headlights were blowing out the license plate so I turned down the IR it was at max. I will try again tonight and report back...

    Tired of Getting Broken Into

I agree 100% and as I build out my LPR camera setup for suspects driving my cul de sac in early morning looking for packages I will be posting the license plates on Nextdoor as well to help others become aware of these shady characters. Having cameras specialized for a specific task will give...

I recommend you mess around with the cameras that @bigredfish mentioned at IPVM Camera Calculator V3 to see where you zoom in how the clarity is this site really helped me get a good idea of how I want to plan my LPR system which I have yet to purchase but sometime in the near future I will...

Need comments/critiques on my LPR proposal

Hello everyone, I have come up with what I believe to be a location and where I would like to focus my LPR on to obtain plates easiest on cars entering and existing my Cul De Sac. This will be my first camera setup and using the IPC-HWF5241-Z12E sounds like the best option atm. I have another...

Question on creating my IP Camera network

Thanks for the advice @samplenhold I will most likley be doing the dual NIC once I become more familiar with it. I have a question about the diagram you added though. Why do you have two computers with dual NICs attached to the POE switch is this for ease of access to the CAMs live feed if need...

Question on creating my IP Camera network

Thats awesome I was afraid I would need to purchased a managed switch instead of an unmanaged one due to no router but I guess the routers purpose is to route traffic from the WAN to the LAN.

Question on creating my IP Camera network

I have a question on how I think I would like to begin building up my POE camera system and reading through some of the guides and threads here I would like to make sure my system is secure. I am building from the ground up so my thoughts atm are as follows. 1. Purchase a used Dell Optiplex...

New member researching my first POE IP camera system

@aristobrat I spent some time on the IPVM and added your recommended Dahua IPC-B5442-ZE as well as the Amcrest IP8MMB2546EW and set my subject to 65 feet which is well into the middle of the cul de sac I am aiming to focus on. Both zoomed in all the way I receive a much better PPF score on the...
