You have a lot of reading ahead of you! Homeassistant and openhab are like two different brands of the same product. They are both software that you run on your choice of hardware (raspberry pi is popular for both) that is platform agnostic. You can then add different hubs or switches...- danbutter

Okay, so I tried to right click on a clip and download it. I tried in the alert list and when the download was 3GB I hit cancel. Not sure if this was downloading ALL the clips or what. So then I opened a clip and from there did it again where it says download clip and the same thing happened... -

The wifi on mine is garbage too. I've moved it all over and close to or far from my wireless makes no difference. Hard to use it that way for me. I didn't notice it degrade other wireless clients, but I don't have many. I try to hardwire if possible. Yet some people have no issues with them...- danbutter

Motion detection at night?
Agreed. Will do as soon as I can sit down in front of the PC again. I'm just baffled by the way that headlights and the car moving through the shot don't trigger motion, but often the change back to darkness does. My expectations (wants) from BI are 1. Motion detection at night?
I'm a few days into the demo version of BI and I'm having lots of trouble with motion detection. I'm trying to do zone crossing because of trees and shadows and sunlight in the summer. Drives us nuts on those days, but we like to know if someone comes up the driveway. Very little hit and a lot...- danbutter

blue iris suddenly a memory hog and at 100% cpu usage
Well I got to the PC tonight and it was about 30% reported by task manager and 94% by BI. Not really sure what to think here on why there is such a variance. This is while I am trying to figure out why I can't get zone crossing to work. If I just have the BI interface open with nothing going... -

Well I was using BI tools and adding the weather overlay. That is why I wanted to use the overlay. Task manager is reporting everything for the PC as 30ish% while BI is saying 100%. I do rdp in sometimes and sometimes I don't...I don't see a big difference. What I am most puzzeled about is that BI says 100% when windows says 30ish%. I did try the direct to disk, but if it isn't enabled in the demo it won't matter I guess. Do the overlays get recorded if I enabled direct to... -

Did you have any issues with your cams not being installed even though they could be seen? I tried to use this last week and could only get one of my 3 cams into it. I have 1 dahua ptz and 2 hikvision that are pretty common so I'm not sure why it won't work. It kept telling me the password was...- danbutter

Just installed the trial a couple days ago and noticed that BI is reporting cpu usage to be very high, but task manager isn't. Is this the same issue? Having big issues with getting motion detection working and noticing BI reports 100% cpu when trying to work on it. Windows says 30% when BI... -

Tinycam pro supports audio. The dev chimed in a page or two ago...just use the hikvision camera setting was the solution I believe.- danbutter

I had the same issue and looked into a bit today. If you go to the wireless tab the subnet mask and default gateway are incorrect. Or were for me anyway. Once I fixed this issue it works just the same over VPN as being at home just as you would expect.- danbutter
