Does Blue Iris utilize multiple cores/cpu's?

Yes. Intel® Core™ i7-4790 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz) Product Specifications You can do a quick test yourself. Go into your BI settings and toggle the "Hardware Acceleration" option and watch your CPU utilization. See how much it changes. Not sure if that requires a restart of your...

Does Blue Iris utilize multiple cores/cpu's?

I did the same awhile ago. Had an existing single E5-1650 server for Plex and added BI to it. I got chided soundly when asking here about my server for not having hardware encoding capabilities. My machine runs at about 13% Blue Iris CPU utilization without Quicksync for (8) 2MP IP cameras...

    Blue Iris power consumption experiments

You are right for residential, although many rural power cooperatives in my area offer an "all electrical heat" subsidized rate that gets down there. I had my employers raw industrial rate without demand charges in my head (4.7 cents/kwh). It looks like the residential rates are anywhere from...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I did a thread search and came up empty. Is it possible to set the focus and then keep it without having the auto-focus activate as something flies by the camera or other? I want it focused on the end of the driveway, but it appears to keep going close and the end of the driveway is blurry...

Is Blue Iris that much better than iVMS-4200?

Where did you acquire and for how much?

Is Blue Iris that much better than iVMS-4200?

Sure, but you are talking about reducing CPU cycles. I am at 30-35% now, not really concerning. The E5-1650 was sold all the way to 2014-2015, but did start in 2012. A used Nvidia 730 is $20-$30, but mine did come with a workstation graphics card that worked fine just didn't have an HDMI...

Is Blue Iris that much better than iVMS-4200?

Terrible? What is the criteria? Are you referring to Intel Quicksync? Are you concerned about CPU performance? Mine seems to be below 40% pretty much all day/night with (7) 2.1M cameras @ 25-30FPS using BI DVR with direct to disc. Is there something else I am missing by using this relatively...

Is Blue Iris that much better than iVMS-4200?

There was a deal on HP Z420 refurbs at Newegg a few months back and I have seen it recurring quite regularly. They are also on Ebay for $350. Xeon E5-1650, seems to be a good deal.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

With Blue Iris, I have (7) 1080p cameras recording continuously and I am getting about 12 days of footage on a 2TB purple drive at around 25 FPS. Not sure if that is typical or not. Actually I just checked and it is only using about 900GB. I probably need to make sure I am not artificially...

Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231RN-Z not working :(

So is this resolved as a firmware issue? I see that blocking its WAN connection might help, but is this unique to the 5231? I was planning to scrap some of my cheap cameras and pick up 1 or 2 of these and am now second guessing.

The URL should match what I list above. Http://192.168.xxx.xxx Port= 81 /mjpg/groupname/video.mjpeg? If you want all cameras just enter: /mjpg/index? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Able to view all live cameras/groups on Roku!

You can multiview as many or as few as you want. Just make a group and point at that URL. 1. Create group called "multiview" 2. Assign desired cameras you want to see at once to this new group 3. Enter the URL to this group into the app as a single camera 4. Select this camera and you should...

Next best thing under 100$ to Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I have the wifi model. I would say it is comparable to a Foscam/Amcrest wifi camera. Not bad, but not great. It is also not POE as far as I can tell. I am saving for two Starlights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Able to view all live cameras/groups on Roku!

Nice! I got it to work for my BI install after I put all the cameras in a group called allcameras I used just the URL http://192.168.1.XX:81/mjpg/allcameras/video.mjpeg? It loads up all 6 cameras in a 3 over 3 array. Pick stretch to fit and it looks pretty good on a 16x9 tv. Might wait to see...

    IPC-HFW2325S-W Power Supply?

Got the Amazon power supplies (thanks for the product suggestion) and got the IPC-HFW2325S-W setup last night. I have it on Wifi in my garage for some burn-in. It seems less sharp then the Amcrest PTZ it is sitting next to. The setup software is nearly identical to the Amcrest software, just...

Thanks. I am sure I will eventually see the wisdom in your post here. I am not there yet, admittedly. I understand the spend money where it counts mantra, I do that in other hobbies.
