IPC-HDW5442T-ZE New cam from Dahua :)

I'm still very green at this, but to me that doesn't look too high. From what I've seen too high means two or three stories up looking down. Try to get something on the other side of the garage door as well

    Clips and archiving

I've got an awful lot of learning to do so I can pay back what I've already taken from the forum. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

    Clips and archiving

That was it! Thanks! Ah so that's how it works Any reason not to do 168 hour long clips?

    Clips and archiving

That was it! Thanks! Regarding the limit clip size under clips and archiving. If I only do new and I limit clip size to 3tb, is it going to record until it's 3tb and then delete the entire clip?

    Clips and archiving

I read it as well it runs out of space it just deletes entire clips, so if my clips are 3tb it deletes the entire 3tb? That could be a misinterpretation on my part. But that doesn't explain why it was limiting then to 3.9gb.

    Clips and archiving

I'm sorry but I'm having a brain fart. I currently have the default settings of 10gb and limit to 7 days for new and then 20gb for stored. However blue Iris keeps creating new clips after 3.9gb and a few times after less. What's going on? I'm running version 5.2.9.23 with two Dahua cameras...

IPC-HDW5442T-ZE New cam from Dahua :)

I don't know if you're supposed to, but I certainly did. The ball (camera) is separate from the ring that clamps it down, so you can rotate it anyway you need. They're made incredibly well and versatile.

What other more expensive solutions are out there? Serious question, I'm not busting balls, I actually want to know.

    Dahua IPC-HDW5442 cam model difference

Is a Dahua NVR required in order to use features like face detection, people counting, heat map etc or can Blue Iris do that if it's supported by the camera?

    I just ordered two IPC-HDW5442T-ZE's.

I see dual channel memory mentioned a lot here. Do camera systems benefit from 4 channel memory on Xeon systems, or not really?

Curious what frame rate you're running the cameras at?

Who no love for AMD CPU's?

I had an athlon 64 X2 6000+ I ran for years but it wasn't a good overclocker. Right after that I built a Phenom II system for a coworker and then built an I5 750 for my self specifically for overclocking and gaming and right after I bought the parts found out a ton of people were having socket...

Who no love for AMD CPU's?

The Phenom II was the last I had used. It's been a while. I was talking more in terms of quality and failures, problems etc. Many over the years have claimed Intel was a higher quality product, regardless of it's performance. To me, a security camera system should be dedicated to just that...

Who no love for AMD CPU's?

I keep seeing these comments and it I'm a little confused by it. "New AMD hardware is good" or "AMD is good now, not like they used to be". I used, and overclocked tons of AMD processors 10-20 years ago and they did just fine. I also used plenty of Intel. I loved buying a bottom of the line...

IPC-HDW5442T-ZE New cam from Dahua :)

In manual mode do they still adjust to different lighting conditions? Bright sun, twilight, night etc? Or is it one fixed setting and that's that? Sorry for the noob question.

What HDD is everyone using and what is your recording setting?

I have a WD Purple 2TB that's been in use non-stop since 2016 and no issues that I'm aware of. I'm putting a 4TB WD Purple in the new system. This may be the wrong thread to ask this in but, what's the deal with cameras that have SD cards? If a computer shuts down or the network goes down for...

    I don't care what ya'll say....

It's only CAT 5.... If you have kids I'd go deeper tho or at least put it in conduit. I ran normal CAT5E outside back in 2016 and it hasn't failed yet. I'm sure the outer jacket doesn't like the sun but it's tolerating it a lot better than I expected.

    Computer help please

To be fair, You had 8086, 8088, 80286 and then you could add an 80287 to an 80286 system and 80286s could run at many different clock rates. Setting up RAM was a nightmare and hard drives were horribly expensive and most needed to be manually parked.... I had an IBM AT with an 80287 added to...

IPC-HDW5442T-ZE New cam from Dahua :)

Are the IPC-HDW5442T-ZE and IPC-T5442TM-AS basically identical besides the varifocal vs fixed and what goes along with those differences (angle, size etc)? Best I can tell the 5442T-ZE is 140DB WDR and the 5442TM-AS is 120? Unless that's a typo? Assuming that's correct I have to think that's...

Two cameras will be 8-10 feet from the area been observed crisscrossing. Tht furthest distance even in view is 20' at most. I'm still considering varifocal, I've just got a feeling for the front of the house its useless. The sides and backyard are a totally different story. For those I'd...

So I've figured out my current cameras are allegedly 720p 2.8mm. Does 2.8mm behave the same at different resolutions? If so.... I'm stuck choosing between IPC-T5442TM-AS with 2.8mm lens and the venerable IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. They both seem really good at night.

Recording audio outside of your home?

I've been trying for a while now and I still don't have an actual answer. I'm installing cameras outside my house in NJ. Two of these will be 8 to 10 feet from a public sidewalk along what's basically main street in our town. I see mixed information on audio recording under such conditions...

Thank you for taking the time to respond SouthernYankee. I appreciate it. I've been looking through threads and one thing I haven't stumbled across is, why buy a fixed lens camera when you can get ones you can adjust to anything in between? The price doesn't seem to be the reason. Do the...

Hi all, Im finally getting rid of the Zmodo stuff and switching over to Blue Iris. Is there anyway to know what the Zmodo cameras are IE 2.8, 3.6mm etc? Im trying to decide what I want and it would help if I can use my current cameras to go off of. I'm thinking of starting with two Dahua...
