Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

I have the SSD and Purple drive installed. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do under Disk Management in Windows 10. Is it best for the Purple drive to be a "New Spanned Volume", "New Striped Volume", "Convert to Dynamic Disk", or "Convert to MBR Disk"? I'm at this step because I...

    Cheap PoE Bullet Camera

I'm interested in getting a cheap PoE bullet camera. The quality doesn't need to be that good. 720p is probably fine. I'd just like to know if anything or anyone is in a certain area. I've heard to stay away from Reolink, but why? I've found this camera for $59.99: Reolink PoE Camera 4MP Super...

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

My router already has a starting and ending address, so I'll leave that and start assigning cameras after that. Thank you! So, my plan is to disconnect the modem to make sure there isn't an Internet connection, then plug in the cameras (via the switch), assign each camera an IP address...

Thanks for telling me this.. because we were going to transfer everything in about sixteen hours.. Is there going to be an issue using the same product key that came with the computer (that is updating right now)? I'll get a flash drive and set up the media creation tool. Hopefully it'll...

    Cheapest Computer for Blue Iris

I don't know how to install the operating system on the SSD.. The plan (based on my discussion with someone else in another thread) was to transfer everything to the SSD. Right now the computer is on (everything stock) and is updating Windows. Any idea what wattage should be put in the...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

I'm fine with the image quality for indoors because I'm not going to really be using it to identify anyone. And although it's not listed as weather resistant a lot of people have had success, most just putting them in an outdoor mount found on Amazon. Do you know of anything like this that is...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

I saw the thread, and it looked like there were some issues with that third party firmware. Why don't you like that camera? It is affordable and people have had them outside without a problem. Do you know of something better for around $20 - $30? There is also the WyzeCam Pan which is nice from...

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

I'm a little lost now.. My Asus router is almost all default, and the only thing that I'm looking to make static are the cameras. I'm not understanding what I'm supposed to do. An earlier post mentioned going and assigning and IP address manually via the LAN and DHCP Server option within the...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

I'm also thinking about replacing an Arlo Q, and would like something that will work with Blue Iris, but I'd really prefer a wireless camera for indoors. I've been thinking about getting a WyzeCam which look decent, but they don't work with Blue Iris. It's so affordable I'll probably just go...

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

Thank you! So, I'll get each camera to show up on the Asus router, then disable Internet access to each one, and follow the instructions above to assign an IP address to each camera. Now, do you recommend that I keep the IP address that is automatically assigned, or is part of assigning...

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

I have an Asus router (which was suggested on here). I see IP address and MAC binding. Is that the same thing? I did a Google search and stuff about a DHCP came up, but when clicking "Yes" to the IP address and MAC binding it didn't provide any additional options. It's just "Yes" or "No".

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

I'm not familiar with that but I'll do some research on it. Thanks. I have another concern.. When the power went out, the cameras continued to record, but when it came back on they were assigned a new IP address. I'm worried that if that were to happen they'd connect to the Internet because the...

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

Alright, so I'll setup the computer, update Windows, download and install Blue Iris, and then disable the Internet for the computer via the router. Then I'll connect via OpenVPN. I'm assuming the Blue Iris mobile app will work via the VPN too?

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

Thank you. My router has OpenVPN and will allow me to disable Internet access on a device. So, I'd be able to disable the Blue Iris PC from accessing the Internet. Is that good enough or do you really recommend a separate VLAN?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm planning on plugging it in the five port switch. I'm assuming it'll still connect to the router that way, so it'll still need to be secured somehow. I made a post here: Easiest Way to Secure Camera System Maybe you can take a look when you have a minute. I'm...
