Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

That helps a great deal, thanks :) I guess two remaining questions: 1. The other side of my house, facing down the street, because of the angle I only need to see 60 feet away, is the 1831E 6mm sufficient for that? Again, bang for buck here. Also, I'm trying to stick with a way to easily...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

Can you replace the lens in the HFW1831 that I linked? If so, where do you get replacement lenses? And is it common to set a fixed zoom level with these varifocal cameras, or is there some kind of automation that is preferred? Or better yet, is it possible to replace the lens in Costco's Lorex...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

By the way, I'm also dealing with sub-optimal conditions in terms of where I can place the camera, angle, etc, primarily due to HOA restrictions but also because it has to cross another neighbor's driveway. The fact that it has to cross the neighbor's driveway is why I say it's pie in the sky...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

While he's probably correct, and I'm not disagreeing but I think I need a better understanding as to the why for that camera based on my research: I don't think I need quite so much detail as what he has in his shots. When I toss my pie in the sky scenario into IPVM, I get this: The facial...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

Based on the IPVM calculator, I'm thinking this is a good bet for my specific need: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NVK3DNG Doesn't do 120ft that well, but 100ft is ok. Anybody disagree?

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

64mm seems a bit much, I'm almost able to read the plates with a 3.6mm lens. EDIT: Then again, that is with a 4k resolution.

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

Realistically I only need about 80 ft, but it would be "pie in the sky" nice if it could go up to 125ft. Also I'm not necessarily wanting automatic LPR, just that plates are human readable.

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

That being the case, would I be better off with just a fixed lens 6mm for distance and a different camera with a 2.8mm lens for up close?

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

I'm looking at maybe buying this for being able to see license plates at a distance, and people who walk nearby, how easy (or hard) is it to configure this kind of camera to do all of that?

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

I ended up buying a cordmate C10 from home depot (~$5) and painting over it. Not quite finished as can be seen below as I didn't paint the top of it, but pretty close to what it will look like once I'm done. I put silicone sealant into the holes I drilled before putting the molly into them, but...

Which junction box at home depot would be ideal for these cameras?

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

What is a home depot box? I came up with my own solution btw, I'll post pics in a bit. I'm wanting BI to be able to override that white LED, among a few other things I can't think of at the moment.

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

Does anybody know if the cables on these cameras are UV rated? I'm wanting to put up a junction box but there doesn't seem to be a junction box that allows you to flush mount the cable to the wall, instead having to have a big conduit sticking out of it, which I don't want to do. The place I'm...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

AAC is by far the best encoding that these cameras support. RTSP just refers to the network transport method, so I don't know whether that implies AAC. I wonder if blue iris supports AAC at all. There is a patent royalty involved, but it's pretty insignificant compared to the overall cost of the...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

Why doesn't blue iris accept AAC audio from these cameras? Or at least, it doesn't show it as an option.

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

I would but honestly I don't know much about cameras beyond things like video codecs or networking (though I can tell you just about anything you ever wanted to know about networking.) Also physical security is more the territory of this forum, where I'm cyber security. See the very first post...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

I don't have the NVR, I bought these individually. The ones I bought previously that came with the NVR worked differently. That NVR was crap though, you had to have a monitor connected directly to it, and the cameras were definitely worse than these, though they do look similar physically...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

These cameras do remarkably well in black and white at night. Is there a way I can adjust when it does black and white? The position I put it in, there's a porch light far in the background that I think is just bright enough that it goes to color mode, and everything else turns black with just...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

Got mine, going to do some bench testing. Meanwhile, is there a firmware release for this that can show video without stupid internet explorer? EDIT: And without the chrome extension, which never seems to work for me. The Dahua 5442T works without it, not sure why this lorex needs it.

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

I'm familiar with PTZ cameras, just not any kind of systems or cameras that will automatically follow objects, nor do I know how to set that part up.

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

Ah, and it's got a wider FoV...damnit. This will not work well for a corridor. What a pain in the butt, no way to cancel now. Don't suppose anybody has ever had any advice for using a wide angle lens in a narrow corridor? I'm not sure what other camera would fit my needs here to be honest. I...

These 2 Latest Lorex 4k Cams + Ubiquiti (UniFi) 4k Cam?

I just bought two from costco, going to see how they work out. I'm intending for these to stare down long corridors at the sides of my house, doubling as utility (to provide lighting for when we walk along the side of the house at night) as well as provide alarm-like functionality. Costco's long...

Who's sensor is used in 4MP cameras such as Dahua, Hikvision etc

Have the newer sensors made it into their PTZ cameras yet? Is it best to wait on ordering an expensive PTZ camera until this does happen, or is it likely to happen at all?

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

I'm completely unfamiliar with auto following cameras, can this one automatically zoom on license plates? And how good is it if I want to occasionally bird watch or view a nearby (within 1 mile) mountain? And how does the spotter system work? Do you just use any camera as a spotter? And if so...

    Review: Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS (Loryta IPC-T5442TM-AS) (4MP Starlight+)

Is the 2.8mm version going to be available on Amazon again? I bought the 3.6mm version two days ago but I think I have a use for the 2.8mm as well now, and it's not there.

Installing over stucco with tyvek homewrap

Well there's want and there's need. Presently, having security cameras is more of a want as I'm not exactly in a high crime neighborhood. Much in the same as wanting (and having) a UPS. In either case, there's a lot more efficiency to be had from running fewer components. Sure it may have a low...

Installing over stucco with tyvek homewrap

If you have to rely on RDP or any other remote desktop software, then it wouldn't be running in the "background" per se. I'm not trying to argue the merits of one vs another, I'm just pointing out an example of what I mean by headless. I'm not an expert, that's why I'm here asking questions...

Installing over stucco with tyvek homewrap

In my mind, headless means the software quietly runs in the background while providing its own remote interface. An example of that might be another one I'm looking at called zoneminder. Is this for VMS software in general, or is it for blue iris? If the former, I don't understand the...

The comments I've read are to the effect of it being limited, and that the windows UI is the only way to use most of the features. Why?
