Blocking intel driver updates from Windows Update?

Hey curado.... When you say "all the steps below" you ARE referring to the Windows 10 article, and not the thread from this forum discussing what/how to do it? Memory Leak: Quick Sync (Hardware Acceleration) | IP Cam Talk I can tell you from first-hand experience, that the steps outlined in...

OEM PoE Conversion Kit - 802.3af/at - Create your own POE lighting

Nice! Just place an order for one and will try it in a VERY dark corner of the property where the built-in IR of the camera is just not up to it! I'll post results when I get it installed

    Outdoor Enclosures/UPS/Switch

Hey Kheiney.... I've done a lot of outdoor enclosures in my North Bend home (Seattle area), and can recommend a good one. I've not done any UPS installs, but pretty much everything else. Here's my "Go-to" enclosure which also provides power. You have to provide an AC line to it, but it does...

    Sharing Converted BI Files

Yep...although without knowing what OS he is running, I DID think that Windows Media Player should work if it's a recent version of Windows?

    Sharing Converted BI Files

Hey marmaduke... I don't think there's anything in the file format that specifies restrictions. Mp4 files that BI outputs are pretty universal in terms of what can play them. I can verify (at least from my end), that when you output an MP4 from BI, it can be played with most of the popular...

Day 4 of BI: Time to convert my dad! lol Does hikvision connect to BI?

Yellow-Snow... You are bit all over the place with your question, but I will try to help! Hikvision IP cameras are generally compatible with Blue Iris, and it does a good job of discovering them on your network and utilizing the specific features of each. Capture cards are generally utilized...

    Blue Iris UI3

Hey bp...now that I've got all my hardware working so well, I decided to spend some time getting ui3 up and running across all my web-based devices. To that end, here are some things I thought I would share: 1. Was able to get it it working on my desktop PC's with ease (Firefox and Chrome), and...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Thanks cb8....and it makes sense given what I've been seeing across these 3 different systems. But now that I've gotten my arms around the problem (at least better than before), I've now come to realize a couple of important things: 1. The overall data-rate is probably the most important...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hey bp...one more data point for you: As mentioned above, after I got the system running at a reasonable CPU load, I decided to go in and cherry pick a few cameras to bring their FPS back up to something more useful (to me anyway). So I chose 6 cameras that I had set to 10 FPS, and changed them...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

yep...that's my next step (on the i9). Don't really know about the under 10 FPS thing??? They are all set to 10 so it doesn't make sense. FYI...just updated one more set of data for my old (well...last year) i7-6950X build. That one is now comfortably sitting at 35% CPU with limit decode turn...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hello again... Just uploaded fresh data from my i9 build with no "limit decode" on any cameras, and the CPU hovers at around 28%, and without Intel Quick-Sync. Interesting to see the differences here!

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Yo guys...hope the weekend is going good for you all! bp...thanks again for the pointers, and I wanted to let you know that I just refreshed some performance data for the new i7 build. This time, I've gone into each camera and limited the framerate to 10 as well as specify "Max-Bitrate" to...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hey bp, so I enabled direct to disc on every camera and refreshed the performance stats online. No change in the CPU usage though.

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Well...that's true, but I had no choice because the system became completely unusable if I didn't use limit decode. But you're right...I need to try the direct to disc setting. But to be clear, there are no duplicate cameras, so we can eliminate that.

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Many Thanks bp! So...I just published Performance Stats using BiUpdate Helper. I'd be curious to hear what you think! Edit: Just noticed another i7 stats that seems to be working much better than mine! I am super puzzled now, as to why they are at 62% and I'm at 97%, and they have 35 cameras...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hey bp...well, I ran the tests and have some results to share. And before I go any further, I don't want you to think I'm trying to get you to "IT" support my issues! I'm really not, but it seems like you are 'somewhat" interested, so it's in that spirit that I share this stuff with you. As a...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Sorry bp, I never seemed to put two and two together (after all this time), kind of embarrassed to admit that! I’ll do that as soon as I get home and report back!

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hey there! Thanks as always for responding so quickly. I have the (Global) FPS set to 15, but are u saying I need to do a similar setting on each camera? Regarding direct to disc, I should say that for this test (and the i9 setup) I’m not doing any recording just yet! The system is merely...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Hiya Folks...I thought I would chime in here (again)! After a bit of back and forth with bp2008 and some others on another thread (talking about my i9-7980XE build), I decided to take bp's advice and try my luck with an 8th gen core i7 (Core i7-8700K) and 32 gigs of ram to power my Blue...

Big PC - 8 HD's, are Motherboard Sata connections better than PCIe 2.0e 2.0 card?

Hey mat200...thanks for responding! The motherboard is an Asus Rampage 5 Edition 10. I bought it about a year ago, so I'm thinking I will just stick with the on-bard SATA connectors. I like it better anyway, since it makes for a cleaner install inside the case. Thanks again

Big PC - 8 HD's, are Motherboard Sata connections better than PCIe 2.0e 2.0 card?

Hey folks...general question for you I'm adding a total of 8 media drives to a new PC build and was wondering if I should connect them all to the motherboard (It has 10 Sata ports), or use a PCIe 2.0 card. Or should I split them 50/50...some on the mobo and some on the card? The machine will be...

    BI running on a new i9-7980XE (18 Cores, 36 Threads) = NICE!!!

Hey bp...as a follow up, I DID take a look at the Core i7 that you suggested and am considering buying one...however, I've not got a clear vision in my head for how to utilize the integrated graphics when my motherboard (which I'd like to re-use) does not have any way to output video? Am I...

    BI running on a new i9-7980XE (18 Cores, 36 Threads) = NICE!!!

Well....I've installed many of these water coolers, so not sure what I could have done wrong this time. To be specific, I purchased the Cooler Master Liquid Pro 280...big honking radiator and two fans. I installed it pretty much the only place I could which was right next to the CPU, but the...

    BI running on a new i9-7980XE (18 Cores, 36 Threads) = NICE!!!

Thank you sir! all good advice.... And hey, I'm not married to this i9 thing, I REALLY did think that the core-count would matter...but as I said in my first post, it did not give me the kind of head-room that I was anticipating/hoping for. So, I will look carefully at your suggested...

    BI running on a new i9-7980XE (18 Cores, 36 Threads) = NICE!!!

Ha ha....You are spot on right bp! I didn't have "cost-effectiveness" in mind for this machine. But the truth is, this i9 build is going to replace my existing work-horse machine that I use everyday, and the extra memory gets used by lots of other applications that I run on a day to day basis...
