    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

Same for me, so it's not a huge benefit other than getting an entry in the July lottery. Good discount for folks wanting multiple cams of the same model, though.

    2023 EmpireTech Memorial Day Sales

The sale is live on Amazon (for me, at least!). @EMPIRETECANDY, how do I get the discount for multiple cameras? When I add three 5442T-ZE to my cart and try to check out, I don't see the reduced price on the final screen. They are still $180.49 each. The additional 5% discount coupon that...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Wow. Amazon is now only showing 4 of this cam in stock now, even after @EMPIRETECANDY said that 18pcs would be available on the 22nd. Andy, this is definitely a popular camera! There's only one more SD1A404XB-GNR in stock too, and those were the two I was looking to buy during the Memorial Day...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I've got a bright street light directly over the spot on the road where I plan to capture plates, so I should be able to grab focus there. I also have two 5442s as spotter cams that should initiate the preset as well. After Andy's sale starts and the cam arrives, I'll post results.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Great to see! I'm planning on picking up one of these during Andy's Memorial Day sale and using it for LPR in the same way.

    Camera suggestions?

Right. I already automate a lot with my 5442s through Home Assistant, so setting a PTZ to a location to obtain a focus before it gets dark would not be an issue. And a 1/2000 shutter should be sufficient, right?

    Camera suggestions?

Helpful questions, thanks @mat200! Under the first story soffit is probably the only viable place for a PTZ for me as I only have a single story house. Luckily there are no trees or hills obstructing the view of the road in either direction. I live on a street with a cul-de-sac, so there's only...

    Camera suggestions?

Right. Between the two 5442s and 2mp doorbell camera I have, I'm happy with the coverage of my small front yard, entrance, and driveway. I can identify faces clearly at night in my driveway around my car, and I can clearly identify faces within 15-20 feet of my front windows and door at night...

    Camera suggestions?

There have been some sketchy cars in the neighborhood lately and crime has been on the increase here in south Texas, so I'm looking at getting some more cams. I currently have two 5442s from Andy as overview cams (I've also convinced my neighbor as well, who currently has one 5442 and wants to...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I already automate a number of things on my 5442s through Home Assistant, so I could easily set it into night mode before it gets dark. I knew the image would be all black and could only be used for LPR, but I wasn't thinking about the variable focus issue on PTZs. Makes sense. The neighborhood...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Would this cam be usable for night time LPR at ~100ft? Daytime person tracking would be nice, but with some 5442s for night surveillance, it might be nice to have something that could be dual-purpose...

IPC-T5442T-ZE IPC-T5442TM-AS IPC-T5842T-ZE SMD 3.0 Smart IR Latest New Firmware From EmpireTech

I picked up a couple of 5442T-ZE's from Andy earlier this year and they are running System Version V2.820.15OG001.0.R, Build Date: 2021-07-06. I've always been a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" person. But for those of you who have some 5442's, is there any compelling reason for upgrading to...

    Frigate NVR anyone?

I run Frigate with 6 cameras on an old Dell Optiplex that runs Home Assistant. I have a separate 4TB drive installed for 24/7 recordings. Frigate is super lightweight, it's been rock solid, and works so well in my experience. I've never used Blue Iris or a standalone NVR, but I'm a software...

Any specific paint recommendations for my 5442 to match the house?

Great advice, thanks @sebastiantombs. I need to touch up a few other spots on the house so I'll end up getting a color match. It should make the turrets blend in extremely well!

Any specific paint recommendations for my 5442 to match the house?

Looking to paint my 5442 turrets to match the house. What have you had the best luck with? Spray paint? Plasti-dip? Outdoor enamel? What should I mask off/be careful to avoid painting? Lens, of course... Thanks in advance for any tips. Didn't want to just go to the store and pick up something...

Just picked up my first two 5442T-ZE's from Andy... where to start?

I'm a newbie when it comes to varifocal cams, Dahua firmware (I have a few other generics as well as an older Amcrest already and am familiar with the firmware), and the best tools to use to set it up. If you were in my shoes, where would you start? My plan is to get one of them set up on the...

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

Amazing. I wish I had small windows like that beside my door - the mini wedges would be perfect.

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

Great thoughts. The doorbell cam actually has a really tall viewing angle, so I can see all the way to the ground because of where it's placed. But a mini dome at face level is actually a great idea.

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

Yep, Frigate is awesome. I have used it for a few years now (before it was popular) so I picked up a Coral early on and I get 9-10ms inference times with 4 cameras. I actually have a bit of a hacked set up for facial recognition right now. I tried Double Take but it ended up being slower and not...

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

After everyone's replies yesterday, it got me thinking - should I replace my doorbell camera (a 2MP Hikvision clone) with something else for better identification of faces who walk near/up to the door? I don't use the two-way talk feature, and I already use a reed switch on my mechanical chime...

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

Awesome. Any post/page here that sums up all that guidance? I can poke around if you don't have it off hand.

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

Pretty convinced on the 5442 at this point, and I'll probably install two of them on either corner of the house so they can see each other in the front. I'll think about the sides/back of the house later after my wallet cools off a bit :) I have direct access to the attic and the soffit so I...
