IP Camera as a Camera Trap

Love it!! Thanks for tagging me. Can you share photos of the waterproof housing you made for it?

    SD6AE830V-HNI PTZ

What kind of internal temp are you getting in those cameras? There is an option on the overlay to overlay the camera temp on the image. Highest I have seen is 120f during the 90F days painted black. Usually it hovers around 108f. Wondering how the white color performs with the temps.

Little Overwhelmed - Swimming Pool PTZ System Advice

Curious. Is notifying the cops when you see them hop the fence on camera and catching them in the act out of the question? Or do you anticipate a facial ID is going to make all the difference? If you want to keep it simpler. I'd install 2 cameras with IVS to give me push notifications to my...

False trip line from a tree shadow.

Check firmware version. Upgrade or revert as necessary, install a micro SD card inside like tangent said. Highly doubt they are defective, there is just a steep learning curve. I really don't think a motion detector is necessary given the video you sent us. The IVS is more then capable of...

False trip line from a tree shadow.

Move that line out towards the sidewalk more and see if that helps. Change the target size to a bigger number. That way it takes a larger object to trigger it. Your tree Shadows are small, people are not. -or- Change to "loitering" but make it short, 1 sec and if someone comes on there for 1...

Little Overwhelmed - Swimming Pool PTZ System Advice

Yes, just disable the mic in the software. Might want to add a few signs that there are cameras on the pool property and recording. Yes BI is significantly better in my experience then that NVR. I had a similar NVR and switched to Blue Iris recently and I am much much happier. Those NVR's...

Little Overwhelmed - Swimming Pool PTZ System Advice

The HDW5231R-Z has a mic built in. The HDW5231R-Z5 does not but you can add a mic, but kind of a pain in my mind. Have at least one camera with a mic built in and you can add that audio stream to all cameras in the area via Blue Iris option so you can hear the people talking trouble even in the...

Little Overwhelmed - Swimming Pool PTZ System Advice

Def buy a PTZ camera that has a built in IR light. They will follow the camera moving and give you better results. I also think it would be better to use a fixed camera with IVS trip wire setup. So anyone that cross the line you draw on the screen will alert security with a push notication...

False trip line from a tree shadow.

You just have to play with them. Move the line down, try different angles, there is no perfect solution, trial and error. It is no way a perfect feature, but it is a great feature!

New computer needed for Blue Iris

Joe, I'd be happy to help you. I felt the same way. Lots of smart windows computer people on here ( I am not one of them). I got an i6700 Dell for $569 with windows 10 on ebay, with keyboard, mouse and no screen. Buy a cheap screen if need be or use hdmi and a TV. WD purple hard drives are...

Please show me your camo camera, looking at putting one in a tree !

I wasn't looking to camo my cameras, just make them discrete and not bright white from the street. I mounted them high up above normal field of vision. I've had several people walk right by several times and I ask them if they saw the new cameras, not a single one has noticed them. Might not...

    Dahua Smartpss

smart pss allows you to log into your Dahua NVR remotely or on local ethernet via your computer. It works pretty good but it also doesn't work great. You make a setting change on it and the NVR does not always take it. Playback remotely is much better for me on Blue Iris then it ever was on...

    IDMSS iOS App

I unfortunately had to give up on IDMSS pro as the app would crash all the time on iPhone 7 and you have to load the cameras each time you open it. It took no less then 5-6 buttons taps to get to where I wanted it to be each time I opened it. The BI app opens right where I want in one tap in...

How often do you clean your camera lenses?

I didn't clean mine for 6 months as they were not accessible through winter. The constant rain and snow kept them pretty clean. Then I noticed my 30x didnt have fine details when zoomed. I cleaned it and what a difference it really made like @Shockwave199 said. You dont notice the difference...

I changed the 8999 to 80 and did a "find and inspect". I also checked that "admin2" has PTZ rights, and it is able to control the zoom with the Dahua web GUI using admin2?? FYI night vision switch over button no longer works in this config? here:

"use find inspect in the configuration tab, then ensure onvif is selected.." Are we talking Dahu a Web GUI or Blue Iris? I can't find config tab with inspect.

hmmmm.....It won't work. I checked the admins privileges and they are in place as far as I can see and the zoom works with the Dahua web GUI and but not with blue iris. I am able to get Blue Iris to send the Night vision command, so that is promising. Just need it to send the zoom command?? What...

New computer needed for Blue Iris

@looney2ns Rearranging components today. So I have my Y wire harness from new egg, I take it, that splits the power to run both the SSD and my purple HDD. The other two wires are the serial ATA for data. And my purple HDD will have that same ATA connector? I don't have the HDD with me, but will...

Windows 10 - Auto Startup Problem w/ Blue Iris

I did this twice carefully and when I double click on the short cut it doesn't open the app? I also clicked add blue iris as a service in the settings and when I restart BI doesn't open. What could I be doing wrong? Unless it is secretly running in the background, which I don't understand how to...

New computer needed for Blue Iris

My brother delivered the new Blue Iris machine today: Dell Optiplex 3040 SFF - i7-6700 Quad - 8GB RAM - 128GB SSD- Win 10 PRO It is really snappy so far, I like windows 10. Came with a keyboard and mouse 1. I changed the Bios to restart automatically after a power failure, works 2. CPU is at...
