    I'll try tomorrow. I can access via my Surface Pro 3 or iMac. With both it's fairly easy as I configure the Ethernet port to connect to the required subnet and my wireless to my main network so I can access both at the same time. The PoE port on the nvr is connected to my switch.

    My nvr is connected to my switch as well and I can connect to my cameras that are connected to the nvr. I just need to change my IP address of my machine to see them as they are on a different subnet

    Wow, looks like an awesome project. I might have to dig out one of my old Pi's and play around with this. I assume it's only the newer pi3 that people are having issues with rather than the newer/update OS on them (pi2 or 3)?

    I posted this in the wrong thread but I have the software installed and working fine except, the names don't seem to be coming through on the notifications? It just show "Channel 9" for example. When having a quick glance at the notification it would be more useful to actually see the camera...

    Ok so plan A is to record to both, but if my Dahua doesn't support this, my original question still stands, how do you achieve redundancy when you use the nvr. Btw, my former role was in IT in a bank and I can assure you that their backup process is far more robust than mine, 5 9's, n+2 etc...

    The NAS is my onsite backup, all my backup servers have redundancy so yes it has raid. I'll check my camera settings again to setup the NAS as a secondary recording source. I don't recall the option but then again I wasn't really looking for it on the camera.

    Rather than have the camera record to 2 network devices, I thought it would be easier to record to one and then sync that. Are you suggesting that I record to 2 devices instead? The 2 being the nvr and a nas.

    I can record continuously and will when my 6tb drives arrive but for now it's set to on motion detection. The nvr is not running RAID.

    It's a dedicated NAS for my surveillance and I am only recording to NVR on motion detection. I'm not using continuous recording. The HDDs I'm using are the ones for surveillance use as well. But my issue is how to sync the nvr to the nas? The nvr unfortunately isn't something I can hide away...

    I've got the 4421E's mostly, don't recall seeing a microSD slot. The NAS is bolted into my server rack and the NAS syncs to another NAS which I keep offsite. I'll probably also setup snapshot ftp to one of my vps cloud servers.

    Yes or you can plug your regular switch into the unused PoE port and have all your network devices see them (only if the rest of the devices are trusted of-course). I've tried both methods and they worked for me. Has anyone got a hardware hack to make this rack mountable? I don't have a spare...

    Yeah sort of figured that at the end lol I'll check out SmartPSS Tried all that with no success. This was using the app in Chrome that Dahua get you to install. Couldn't use FireFox or IE as the GUI was all messed up in IE and FireFox wouldn't register the plugin?

    I have started to configure my NVR5216-16P-4KS2. How the heck do I play back the video so see that it's recorded ok? Nothing happens when I click play and the screens are blank too: Also, is this the best use of 2 x HDDs in there?

    Mine didn't have the reset button. It was a unbranded model if that makes a difference. Yeah, I worked that out later. But, I believe that I can patch the NVR PoE switch into my main switch and anything on my network would be able to see them, if I needed to work on them. I've got it sitting...
