IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

Ready for installation tomorrow... wrapped tightly in multiple layers of plastic... then again in electrical tape soldered to IR illuminator and wrapped in heat shrink tubing.... ready to install.... the rectifier will be covered lightly with mulch elevated from ground level. It won't...

which camera for LPR at a distance of 215ft?

Tried increasing the iris and it seems to get blurrier. I think because the depth of field is too shallow.

IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

All the silicon sealant I had was acid-based, so I went with hot glue instead. Time to wrap this up many times so I can bury it.

which camera for LPR at a distance of 215ft?

I think I tried increasing iris before but I'll give that another shot and see if it helps.

shutter is 1/500. Any faster and it's too dark at that distance. The intersection helps because people have to slow down. HCL is on and set to 50 iris is set to 50 Let me try to add some more IR and report back to you guys.

Budget Dahua Cams or china alternatives under $100?

I have two 5442's and four T1179EW's. You can get three of the T1179EW's for the price of one 5442. I use them as overview cameras and they both work great. As overview cameras, with IR and B/W mode at night, both models will serve that role nicely.

which camera for LPR at a distance of 215ft?

The line of sight goes under the branches as you can see in the photos. I don't think the branches are blocking the IR. The night shots are human readable, but ALPRd gets them wrong. Thoughts to improve this? It should be better with supplemental IR.

which camera for LPR at a distance of 215ft?

@wittaj , Yes, I'm at max zoom. Here is the exact direction. Unfortunately there is a neighbor's tree so I can't point to the middle of the intersection. The blue arrow indicates the where I plan to add an illuminator. It will be at the base of a tree next to an LED uplight. Hopefully the...

which camera for LPR at a distance of 215ft?

Some updates. I setup OpenALPRd as mentioned in another post. LPR setup guide using openALPRd (open-source install - FREE option) I tried different locations and it appears that I'm getting better results from OpenALPRd when there is less of an angle. So I'm going to keep my target distance...

IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

I measured the voltage drop at the location I wanted the illuminator and it was 10VAC. So looks like my DIY circuit will be perfect for my needs as the output should be close 12VDC. I'm going to put some neutral silicon sealant on the exposed areas and put this in a project box (or 3D print my...

IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

I didn't want to wait until November so I went to my workbench and checked out my inventory. Found four 1n4007 diodes and a 470uF capacitor so I soldered this together. Took about 15min. I tested it with a 12VAC supply and looks like it's outputting 15VDC. Might have to add a resister to...

IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

Although I do have the parts, this is going to be for the outdoors. The illuminator will be small and on the ground and will "pretend" to be landscape lights. I would have to bury the circuit. Need something packaged for the elements.

IR illuminators that are 12v AC/DC compatible

Searched and found this post. Wondering if anyone has found a small, "landscape-lighting-like", IR illuminator that runs on 12VAC? Just like the OP, I'd like to attach an illuminator to my existing landscape lights. I have an LED uplight for a tree that is closer to the street. It would be...

LPR setup guide using openALPRd (open-source install - FREE option)

@samplenhold , I did a fresh install of ubuntu 20.04 as a VM. This time on a more powerful machine (this is my desktop server, which has an i9-9900X with 128GB ram). I gave the VM 4vCPU and 16GB ram and did PCIe passthrough for the GPU so it has a dedicated Nvidia 2080 Super for it. BI is...

I just install alprd on a fresh install of ubuntu 20.04. There are some adjustments you need to make: - pip is no longer in the 20.04 distribution, so you have to install it a different way. sudo apt-get install python2.7 curl https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py --output get-pip.py sudo...

LPR setup guide using openALPRd (open-source install - FREE option)

@samplehold, I have 2 vCPU @3.5MHz allocated and my server is running at about 75% cpu utilization. I would guess that most 4 core processors would work. You don't need that much RAM. I allocated 8GB ram. You don't need much storage either. If you have an extra laptop, you could try it on...
