    VPN Primer for Noobs

I would think you would still need a DDNS server service provider. Thus monthly service fee. Or pay CL for a static IP address. I believe that is a service fee of 90 bucks and then 10 bucks per month. I almost went that route, but customer service sucks and I back away when they could not answer...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I am by no way an expert. But I will kind of tell you my journey. I ended up buying an Asus wireless router with openVPN server built into its firmware. I too have CenturyLink Zyxel modem/router/wireless but a different model. With some hand holding (LOL) I was advised to change the protocol...

    EmpireTecAndy fast DHL shipping!!

This is not a slam of Andy. That being said, what I am going to say is the irony of it all. Shipping seems to have taken some leaps in speed. But dang if the stock was depleted and now Andy is waiting on the camera that I ordered from the factory. Seems that Uncle Murphy is still sitting on my...

I hope you gave him a nice tip. Much better service than the post office who are suppose to not stop for rain snow or sleet. Or something like that.

    Question about PTZ camera mounts

I see this thing called a bayonet mount. Is this a standardized size? I bought a Dahua PTZ (SD59225u-hni) and planning to use a Hikvision DS-1602zj wall mount it is 3" longer than the Dahua one. Hikvision states that this wall mount will also work with some Dahua cameras. Looks like the bayonet...

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

The big difference between the one Andy has and the DS-1602zj is about 75mm in length (about 3"). I am going to mount this on the front of the garage. I want to push it out so I can see 180 degrees. Hence the distance to get out past the eves.

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Ok due to my noob status I have to ask a question. I just ordered the SD59225u-hni and a Hikvision DS=1602zj wall mount. Now Hikvision states that this wall mount works with some Dahua cameras. Would that include this camera or do I need to buy that adapter I see some place sell? Thanks Paulx

I am another very grateful member. Thanks again to Nayr and all of the other members who have contributed to this thread. I went from a CenturyLink DSL Modem/Router/WiFi/Switch. To a transparent bridge modem that put the public IP on the Lan Side. Now have a Asus RT66U_B1 with OpenVPN server...

What is the best client to use on ovpn android phone?

Thanks Looney. Snotrocket, will this work with a VPN? Ok, I was and still might be trying to get a BlueIris that I found on Google Play to work. It is called Blue Iris Wigget. But it keeps throwing me a "Not Connected" message. I am not sure of a couple of settings, so I am going to contact the...

What is the best client to use on ovpn android phone?

Thanks to the vpn for newbies (thanks Nayr) and Randy's Asus routers (thanks Randy). I now have ovpn working on my android phone. Now I have heard something about UI3 but have no idea about setting this up so I can view my BI cameras. BTW I have BI setup to view on my internet (Lan) devices...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I got only one question about this ovpn article that Randy wrote up. I see that he leaves the protocol set to UDP not TCP. Thought that nayr said to not use any UDP settings. Or is this ok cause your not going beyond the router into your internet. UDP is on the WAN side? thanks

Another way to look at this is: Your on your laptop with open VPN loaded and configured back to your house. Your sitting at Micky Ds and using their open WiFi. No one can see your user name and password to your bank account while your transferring money from one account to another. So, here is...

    Help with my setup

I see I am a bit late to this dance, but would like to add a little along these lines. My FIL had a remote house. His alarm didn't have any cellular phone. I believe it did have a phone caller. Thanks 58 Chev, Took me a few more minutes than you. Made a typo in my PPP password on the new router. Got that fixed, it lit right up. Shed corner camera that looks both sides?

With respect, may I suggest that you have cameras watching your cameras. I need to add more cameras to my house, but the two I have up now watch my front door. One to the left and one to the right. You cant touch one without the other picking you up. Kind of a cross fire set up. Kind of hard to...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Hi guys, I have been doing a lot of reading and have read this thread twice. Suppose I have gotten cold feat and need to run a few facts past you guys. My ISP is CenturyLink and their support sucks. Otherwise I would be getting a Static IP. As it is, I will be stuck with a Dynamic IP. And that...

Adding Dahua VTO2111D-WP doorbell with two way audio to Blue Iris

Cameraman 27, received my my video doorbell yesterday. Had a chance to look at it a bit today. It appears that the voltage across the actual button is 3.3 when not depressed and as one would expect, drops to zero when depressed. So, now to figure out a way to reverse the logic and at the same...

Adding Dahua VTO2111D-WP doorbell with two way audio to Blue Iris

Cameraman27 That support you are speaking of. Is that like for a year after you buy the full BI? If so, maybe I can ask them about support for the bi direction audio. I bought my full copy back about 3 or 4 months ago. BTW thanks for the feedback. Just waiting for B & H to tell me that they...

Still reading and only got to page 18. But I need to ask a hopefully quick question. I might have mistakenly bought a wrong Asus router wireless switch RT-AC66U. It was on sale and got that one instead of the AC68U. Will the AC66U work as good as the AC68U for a VPN server? Thanks
