    You probably saw me coming?

I hope it doesn't end up that terrible. Sounds like it could be a giant waste of time and money.

    You probably saw me coming?

Last night I walked around my house to get an idea of what my options are for camera placement. I honestly didn't realize how bright my driveway is due to the street light. Will this amount of light influence my camera choice much? During a power outage that light won't be there, and I...

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

That is funny, but I thought I was the only one who still had an xp based laptop.

    No, I didn’t buy Reolinks!

Reolink research led me here, so they do serve some good...

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

I suppose I could swing that. Will Klein crimpers work OK for the connector, then use the truecable ground crimper for the ground? Or should I just buy the truecable crimper that also has a ground crimper in it?

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

Years ago I had a 100 watt CB radio in my truck. My wife always knew when I was on the radio, yet I never saw her look outside. Finally she told me that she could hear me talking on our 12" subwoofer.

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

It's been a while, but I think it was 5 or 7 foot uncontrolled. It wasn't much to worry about whatever it was.

    No, I didn’t buy Reolinks!

That is completely subjective, but it isn't free, that's for certain.

    No, I didn’t buy Reolinks!

I'm in a pretty similar situation, and I think this is going to be a frustrating yet fun and rewarding endeavor.

Thank you for that, I ordered one yesterday. The price was better than I expected and that's always a plus.

A few more captures (Car break in's and shitty loitering truck)

What does the "40 degree vertical" mean? I initially thought that was the camera height to the plate angle, but 175' away and 35' up is 11 degrees.

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

I guess the RF won't hurt the signal or camera as long as the HF signals don't get into the computer. A few wraps around a mix 43 ferrite should do the trick if I have problems. I'm a little dense sometimes...

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

I just ordered this, and hopefully it's not junk trueCABLE Cat6 Shielded Riser (CMR), 1000ft, Black, 23AWG Solid Bare Copper, 550MHz, PoE++ (4PPoE), ETL Listed, Overall Foil Shield (FTP), Bulk Ethernet Cable https://a.co/d/3G0Z64L I guess it's probably extremely common for people to show up on...

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

This would be so painful! I was thinking that shielded cat would be wise for the relatively low expense. Will a PoE switch actually ground them if I use shielded rj45's, or would the housing need its own ground? I have run a kilowatt before, but the high voltage made me a little uneasy. I'm...

Will a ham radio antenna in attic cause problems?

I am new here and beginning to order stuff for my first install. Will a high frequency transmitting antenna cause problems if it is mounted in my attic? Should I consider shielded cat cable, or just routing around the antenna as much as possible. I didn't find much in a search, but I did...

    You probably saw me coming?

I was hesitant to try BI, but after seeing all of the writeups, videos, and guides on this forum... I'm confident I can make it work.

    You probably saw me coming?

I didn't even think about a smaller one being useful, but that makes sense.

    You probably saw me coming?

I have found myself struggling a bit because I'm not the tech type and I'm always anticipating my next mistake. I have an old i5-7400 12GB with a 128GB ssd. I'm thinking that should get me started with BI. Now I just need a 16 port PoE switch and a few cameras to play with. I'm thinking...
