Green Bars on Rotated Video - 4.3.3.1

I was only seeing it on my one camera with a rotated (in the camera) video stream, and it was consistent. It was always there in play back of both recorded and live video in 4.3.3.1. I haven't seen it at all since I updated to 4.3.3.2.

    discrete graphics worth having?

If the machine will be dedicated to Blue Iris then you'll be better off without a discrete graphics card. Staying with the on-board HD 4600 graphics in the 4790k will reduce your power consumption, and gives you the option of taking advantage of the hardware acceleration that was added to BI...

    caught in the act

One of the biggest problems with gun control laws is that for them to really work, the criminals would need to abide by the gun control laws. Anyone else see the problem with this premise?

Green Bars on Rotated Video - 4.3.3.1

I had the green bars at top and bottom of a rotated camera as well. I was seeing the bars on both the Android app and on the web client. I just upgraded to 4.3.3.2 and they are gone.

New install - events missing 1st 5 seconds

I'm seeing something similar on a couple of Top-201 type cameras. I've never seen it on my other cameras, but all of my other cameras are set for continuous recording. I played around the the settings for the two TOP-201's and seem to have better results if I disable "Combine or cut" under the...

Android Phone with just Wifi ?

I didn't say anything about it being any sort of end all/be all hardware, but in comparison to the $50 used smartphone off of Craigslist the OP mentions in his original post, it might be a viable alternative. I don't know of too many other sub $50 brand new devices you could buy to dedicate as...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

BI can certainly be set up to record the video from one of these cameras only upon motion. In a cellar you could afford to set the motion sensitivity quite high without having to worry about the kinds of false motion detection events you would get from a camera mounted outdoors.

    The "Old School" Installer

@bp2008 At our mountain home I decided to spend a little more and use a managed PoE switch just so I can teamviewer in to the BI server and then log onto the switch and turn PoE off/on for individual ports to power cycle a camera remotely. Since I also have a VeraLite at the house now, as I...

    Foscam to Hikvision Migration

If you want a wifi capable Hik camera that can sit on a shelf, which I'm assuming implies that it doesn't need to be an outdoor rated camera, take a look at the DS-2CD2342F-IW. http://overseas.hikvision.com/us/Products_accessries_10510_i7599.html I own 3 of them, and they have been excellent...

    PoE and Hikvision

Maybe this will make things clearer... If the power enters the camera via the DC power in pigtail, it needs to be 12VDC. If the power enters the camera via the Ethernet jack, it needs to be 48VDC (from an 802.af compliant PoE source)

    PoE and Hikvision

PoE is a general term. There are lots of things that can send or receive power over Ethernet, but not all of them adhere to a particular standard. In this particular case, the Hikvision adheres to the IEEE standard, 802.3af. (From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet) The...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Try changing IR_CUT to "IR Synchronous Switch". If I understand the setting correctly the IR cut will then switch when the IR LEDs turn on or off. I have a camera that doesn't have IR LEDs. On it, setting IR_CUT to Automatic causes the IR cut to activate based on a photocell. Maybe the...

Gadinan “Starlight” 2MP camera with IMX291 sensor

I'll see what I can do but it may be a few days. I hate tax time :( I have a solar powered led flood light coming in a day or 2. It has a mode where it is on continuously at a dim level, and then goes to full intensity when it sees motion. I want to see if it will provide enough light...

    varifocal camera recommendation

http://ipvm.com/calculator calculates 46 pixels per foot (PPF) for the 2632F at 80 feet when zoomed all the way in. I don't think that will meet your desire of easily IDing a stranger, especially at night. The recommended PPF is 80. I'd suggest figuring out what the width is of the area you...

Gadinan “Starlight” 2MP camera with IMX291 sensor

It turns out that the camera does have an IR Cut filter, but with default settings, the camera won't switch to night mode, and even if switched to night mode manually, the IR Cut won't switch without changing additional settings. To get the camera to automatically switch to night mode, and to...

Android Phone with just Wifi ?

    1) Yes it will. I just confirmed that I could load and run it his way on my previous phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3. The phone is not activated, but we keep it around in case we break or lose a phone. I put the phone in airplane mode, and then turned on Wi-Fi. No problem connecting to the home...

Gadinan “Starlight” 2MP camera with IMX291 sensor

The camera can be manually switched to "Black and White" mode, but it is still insensitive to IR. As you mentioned, with the accuracy of daytime colors, I'm assuming that the camera has a fixed IR filter. I'm not sure why the camera didn't switch to B&W. The Day/Night setting was set to...

Need help with Mini Camera purchase

I've got a couple of the Gadinan mini cameras, and never use any of the P2P features or included software. All of the cameras have come with a static IP address of 192.168.1.10 and can be logged into using "admin" as the username and a blank password. You probably already know this, but...
