I am looking for a Dahua Dome camera for indoors. The 5442 are popular here and it's my understanding that S3 is the latest version. However, on Dahua's website I can only find S2 which is strange. Maybe I am not searching properly. On empiretech01.com I can only find the D54IR-ASE-S3. I believe...
Attached is an image of my temporary Hikvision cam. It has one connector that is labeled "ALARM" with pins for In, G, Out, G. Could "Out", "G" be wired directly into the DSC system? Or how would that connector be used?
I am using HomeSeer. So I could use BlueIris to trigger events/motion in HomeSeer to do things like lights/shades/etc. However, how do I integrate this into DSC so if there is motion, DSC sees it as a violated/open zone. I kind of prefer that motion detected by the camera is hardwired into the...
I am replacing an indoor motion sensor with a camera. The motion sensor is connected to a DSC PC1864 alarm system. Is there a way for me to tie the camera into the DSC system so it triggers when motion is detected?
Note, I am using Blue Iris and I can tie motion detected from BI into our home...
Yeah, I think they thought 1/2.7" is larger than 1/1.8" (as I asked for 1/1.8" or larger). And when I asked for larger than 1/2.7" they suggested 1/2.8" because the number 2.8 is larger than 2.7... Maybe I should ask them for smaller sensors... Anyways, below is a night shot of my temporarily...
The main reason for inquiring about Hikvision and Amcrest is because they have a high reputation on this forum and integrate well with BlueIris. I was hoping that maybe for indoor usage they have some more cost effective alternatives to the dome 5442. I did ask Amcrest for a cam with 1/1.8" or...
So what would be a good alternative from HikVision/Amcrest/etc. compared to the 5442 for those kind of applications? I am not looking for a definitive change but some cams that I should consider for this application.
Which one of the HiVision and Amcrest dome cameras are the most similar to the 5442? This is for indoor usage and because of that, I don't want any dome cam that has visual illumination but just IR lights. 4MP seems plenty enough for my purpose. I just want to see our dog and anything else that...
@bp2008, thanks! You are spot on! What is interesting is that this setting seems to affect how video is played. I did go back and forth between this setting. It doesn't seem to affect the recording. Instead, it seems to affect the playback. I am saying that because I can disable that setting and...
Thank you for the quick response. I deleted the cam and added it back. Now it works perfectly fine with BVR. I think I added this camera by copying another HikVision cam. Apparently, I should have just created it from scratch. So far I never had issues creating a new cam from an existing one...
I have an older HikVision DS-2CD2132F-IS 2.8mm that I mounted to check on angles, video, etc. When I looked at the recording, it was completely wrong, i.e. there was an upper and a lower part. Also the upper part is completely distorted which you can also seen from the timestamp in the video...
So everyone is mentioning Dehua, especially the 5442. Are there any others from Hikvision, Amcrest, Foscam, etc. that perform similarly, so probably have a big sensor, some decent chip and firmware, IR light, etc?
Thanks. I don't care about face detection, detection of vehicles (hopefully no one drives it into our house), etc. So is this what you are buying (of maybe the bullet version of it). Looks like it has visible lights which is not what I want for an indoor cam (when someone is walking out from one...
How much of a difference do you really get over a recent 1/2.9" sensor camera, a 1/1.8", a 1/1.2" camera or maybe even 1/1" (not seen one, yet)? I have some 7 year old Hivision cams that got good ratings at that time. I replaced more than half of them with cams from Andy at at about twice the...
I am intrigued about the T54IR-AS-S31. Does it actually have IR? It's hard to see from the image but the description says it does. Also would 3.6mm cover 90 degrees? I have some 2.8mm cams and they seem to cover a bit more than 90 degrees but I rather have more than 90 than less than 90 degrees...
I remember the argument about a video holding up in court (or not) depending on if the cam or BI added it. I also thought that with direct-to-disc there isn't much re-encoding if you just add the date. But I might be wrong about hat. I will look into the Windows integrated NTP again as I prefer...
This is a pretty old thread but does this still apply today, i.e. not use BI to embed the time but instead use some local time provider that the camera can access? If you use the windows integrated time service, are you just using 127.0.0.1 for the URL and port 123?
I have a motion sensor in the corner of a wall & ceiling that I want to replace with a PoE camera. See attached image. Hopefully the next couple of weeks I will open the wall and pull some Ethernet cable to that location (same place where the other cable for the motion sensor is currently coming...
I have a couple of HikVision dome cameras that I want to install in the garage. There is probably another camera that I want to install somewhere else later on. It's very difficult and risky (damaging existing cables) to pull more CAT cables to the closet where the switches are located. I do...
I would like to replace our doorbell with a Reolink PoE doorbell. I understand they have a wireless version but I just prefer a wired solution if possible. There is a 4 conductor cable going to where the doorbell is located (the current doorbell uses just two of the 4 conductors). Is it possible...
@TonyR what cameras are you using? All of our wireless cams are non-critical (checking up on our dog) and I am fine using such a cam for the garage. I just have to be able to mount it in a corner. The Amcrest cams I currently use indoor won't work for that (and 2 out of 4 broke down...).
Very good point. I just came back from visiting my parents and they have brick walls everywhere. So years ago I put a couple of PLAs into their home incl. one that is connected to an AP. Our attic is really small but I do have a light with a light switch in the attic. It's about 20 feet away...
We have a motion sensor in the garage that is placed in a bad spot for home automation purposes but ideal for a camera. The motion sensor points toward the garage door and the side door (good for security) but away from where we enter the garage which is what I want to monitor for home...
The hit and run happened down the street with the car moving towards our house (unless the car turned around). So I am looking for a damaged car passing by our house. Anyways, thanks for the response.
I realized that my motion detection wasn't set properly. There was a hit-and-run on our street but nobody knows an approximate time. Since my motion detection wasn't set up properly I would have to go review the entire video (at about 8x in order to not miss anything). This would take a long...
I would like to use my outside cameras for an (approximate) light sensor for home automation purposes. Someone posted a script but I just can't find the link anymore. Does someone have it?
According to the screenshot it is set to manual. Do you happen to have any links to the "focus API" solution? And how do I send the focus API periodically? Is it a camera problem, a camera configuration issue, or something else?
I have a IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E as an LPR. It works really well EXCEPT for focus. Sometimes it works but sometimes the focus is quite a lot off. I followed the BlueIris way to switch between night and day.
Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset
What happens is that the focus is off...
