    Long distance camera install guidance

you're not. I've got lots of bits and pieces of various items for that very purpose. I did however have to make numerous "burning daylight" trips for a single item to complete this project. The last one was my bag of RJ45 connectors only contained one, I needed two to make the final connection...

    Long distance camera install guidance

It is finished! After a couple of months of off and on work the ditches have been dug and covered, everything is in the ground, the wire and fiber have been pulled, the camera is mounted and it all works as designed. Thank you to everyone who chimed in and gave suggestions. The camera is down...

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

With a little digging found it. That'll teach me to read the instructions. It's on the camera module and obscured by a bundle of wires zip tied over it. Had to get a flashlight out.

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

Has anyone opened up their 45x to install a memory card? I just opened mine up to install one and there is no memory card holder. There are also no dip switches as indicated in the manual. What's up with that? This is not really going to work where I planned for it to be installed.

    45x ptz temps

I turned on the temp reading thinking it might be a good outdoor temp indicator, but apparently it's more of a internal temp gauge. Ambient temps here have been around 90F or so. This morning I noticed the ptz was reading 132F. It's got full sunlight all morning and it's been pretty stationary...

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

for some reason the NACL plugin/app is not working on my new 45x. It operates the camera, but I get one single shot and then it's frozen, controls still work but basically a screen shot. It works fine with my other cameras. I've also have Smart PSS 2.00.2 and it works fine. Unfortunately it...

    outdoor enclosure suggestions?

I'm working toward getting a ptz camera installed in a remote location. I'm going to need a water tight enclosure to house some of the components, namely a fiber transceiver and a camera power supply. The standard 3r NEMA electrical enclosures are rated for outdoor use but they are really not...

    Long distance camera install guidance

When you look at the fiber itself they offer single strand, 4,6 and on up. Does it matter which of those I choose?

    Long distance camera install guidance

good info thank you. So you pulled a dual pair of fiber strands, but these transceivers only use one strand leaving a back up unused at this point?

Yes, I'll be using the "W" version. Guess I also need to use the outdoor type fiber as well.

    Long distance camera install guidance

The ditch is getting opened this week (hopefully). In running the fiber I don't think I really have another option than getting it pre-terminated as I don't have any way to do the terminations. I'd like to try running one cable all the way without having splices along the way. I'll have pull...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

I just bought both a 2231 and a 5231 and got them mounted last week. I'm using the default set up on both except turning the IR off. The low light images from the 2231 are great but I get little more than a black screen from the 5231. The last week has been nearly a full moon and I was getting...

Setting up a VPN on non static IP address?

I checked into Hamachi and it does work for my setup. I was able to access my cameras with my home internet access through a Sprint hotspot. The only problem is I don't have enough bandwidth to view the video feed, either live or recorded.

putting cat5 in conduit with 120vac?

this one would be about 300' and line of sight. I have a single Nanostation, an older one. Got it at a yard sale and it seems to work fine.

putting cat5 in conduit with 120vac?

I"m going to be putting a fiber cable in there, which I guess is ok. My thinking was that I might want a camera at the first pull box looking back at the house. I never see much about using wi-fi with any of the Dahua cameras. I could get power out of the pull box, but had planned to make the...

putting cat5 in conduit with 120vac?

I've got a conduit already buried. I know they say not to run cat5 parallel with ac voltage for any distance. Do you think pulling an AC line with the cat5 will cause data transmission problems. The cat5 I'm using is made for direct burial.

Setting up a VPN on non static IP address?

I got may cameras in and have everything set and can see them fine on my network from my phone, table etc. Now I'd like to see them when I'm away from home. I've read through the vpn thread but seems like most have a static IP from their internet provider. Since I'm out in the boonies, I don't...

camera suggestion for web cam with advertising

I was reading his review earlier this evening. I may go with one of those for my house! Was going to get a 30x, but this one really looks nice and I noticed it shows up to 95% humidity rather than 90 for the others. In the webcam usage the wiper would need to automatic in some way when needed...

camera suggestion for web cam with advertising

Dahua are the ones I've been considering. Hadn't really thought about a wiper version. Do the wipers work on their own or do you have to tell them to wipe? Wasn't sure if the Dahua would be up to task with minimal maintenance etc. Don't really want to have to climb up this antenna tower to...
