    VPN Primer for Noobs

The Cisco router is already in transit, but it has very good reviews. That Asus is nice but doesn't seem to have the actual built-in VPN like the Cisco has. I'm still researching and learning and thought I needed to have my security camera on a vlan to protect it from attack. Since we'll have...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Usually the only time we'd be using it remotely is when we might occasionally view our security camera on our smartphones when away from our home WIFI. I'm on a budget and needed to keep the price down, (especially after paying for the camera) but it only cost $47.95 on Amazon, no way I could...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks for the quick reply, it is appreciated, while I'm somewhat tech savvy to a degree, IP security cameras and VPN is a new area for me and there is so much info to sort thru to see what I really need and don't need. So that is good news that the business class router with built in VPN is...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I'm getting a business class router that has VPN already built in, so is that enough by itself or do you still have to use something like OpenVPN ?

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

As far as my windows phone, I'd be fine just having a dependable live view, especially with the night vision. I'll have to see which might work better, the Hikvision app or the Get IP CENTCOM - Microsoft Store app, or maybe have both. I do have a large sd card if I ever did want to...

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

Good point, I would likely just use the phone just for a "live" view, and maybe see if there's a way I could have any video recorded to my computer if motion is detected.

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

I'm fairly new to this ip camera stuff so I appreciate all the info. The app I mentioned Get IP CENTCOM - Microsoft Store seems to support recoding video according to the description IF I am understanding it right, but I'm not sure if it is considered a generic app or not.

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

Thanks, our windows phones are not that old (we had switched from android) but since I'm not concerned about viewing recorded video on the phone, just live video, it is not a big deal, I figure there should be a way to see the recorded video from my laptop.

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

Thanks, and I had found that app at - Get IP CENTCOM - Microsoft Store My confusion comes from finding ONVIF cameras (like on Amazon) that don't specify compatibility with Windows phones, but only specifies compatibility with android and OIS which makes you think that not all ONVIF cameras will...

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ?

What outdoor security cameras are compatible with using Windows phones as a viewer ? I have tried researching this, and it can be confusing trying to be sure which outdoor security cameras are truly compatible with using a Windows phone as a viewer. (We have home WIFI which our phones connect...
