Vto doesn't show in dmss live.

For me...BI phone app works. Could it use some polish? Sure. UI3>BI Phone App. Too bad UI3 wasn't the phone app itself :)

Do they make a 2 or even 3 port PCI NIC card? Or is better to go for PCI#1 NIC and PCI#2 NIC?

this will be part of the business, as I want to jump into it. So sick and tired of so-called camera installers coming in with low-grade camera/nvr combo's with no fine tuning what-so-ever of camera image parameters (day or night), I know I can do a much better quality end result. I've seen...

    RJ45 Ethernet connection issues

I have hired 4 new techs for my low voltage business. I had to go through this very topic (along with punching wire down on jacks). Forementioned miniature stainless steel screwdriver is a MUST. 1.) stainless steel is mandatory for this. Not graphite or oxidized. You need a smooth sliippery...

Do they make a 2 or even 3 port PCI NIC card? Or is better to go for PCI#1 NIC and PCI#2 NIC?

Trying to build Blue Iris machine for a customer. 20 cameras. Through ideas suggested here, I want to break then into 2 groups going to 2 different POE switches for redunancy. To play it safe and simple, I am planning to add a single PCI NIC card. Was hoping to find a NIC card that can be 2 or...

    I didn't get the memo. H.264+ or any "+" is...undesirable? Also, AI codec...ewww.

ah ok...big macroblocking vs small macroblocking.... I see the difference in reference to detection. Me <--- small brain. Need pictures. I also know. Fire = Hot. Dog = Friend.

Since I have the same model 5442 on my left & right driveway, I think I'll test it out. One will be h264, other h265 without the +

sidenote: h264 is the same encoding used for Blu-Ray discs. Cool beans.

all of my 2mp and 4mp 5442's were using h264+ during my tire slasher. What issues were apparent between h264 and + ?

I thought H.264+ was Da Thang when I started my IPCT venture. But looking through forum posts of AI codec and recording.... I now see the folks who know more about the voodoo black magic science of recordings suggest not to use any "+" even with the H.264. Can someone explain why? I know not...

    Location install possibilities

Since you are inclined to the possibility of trenching, I'd slap a light post/birdhouse camera off to the right about 10' distance from the tree looking back at yellow/red area.

So I roughly have installed a 5442 6mm birdhouse camera on lamp post 50' from my front door....with tire slashing incursion discussion

For those that read this posting, I wanted to share my experiences of the actual purpose of why most of us here on this site go for the cameras & systems that we do. Could I have done what I did with a simple NVR and/or Ring cameras? I am not sure. From what I read, nope. Certainly not to...

Have you switched from DeepStack to CodeProject.AI? Poll

I ran deepstack with Blue Iris during my security tire slasher event. It worked 85% of the time for me for what I needed it to. I eventually switched to Dahua AI in the cameras that worked 100% of the time. I do have cameras that are non-AI that I may go with Codeproject in due time.

    Computer hard drive

If finances are tight, you could start really low with a 1TB hard drive and upgrade later on when wallet allows you to. At least this way, you can get started. If I ran a very small TB hard drive, I probably would not run 24/7 continous recordings but instead just motion detected or IVS...

    POE switch needed?

In regards to the DMSS app... I do feel it is very basic and generic. Wish it was more...modern? But anytime someone presses the call button, I get the notificaiton on my smartphone DMSS app 100% of the time and within reasonable time frame (less than 2 seconds). So it does 100% work. With...

    POE switch needed?

My VTO has been running off a POE switch since day 1 without any issues (no power cycles, reboots, etc). Same for all my Dahua IP cameras, including the DC hungry PTZ. Now the question could come up... is it wise to run IP cameras off a POE switch? My answer...yes. Have I heard people having...

Beware of Z-Wave 700 series controllers

I gave up for now :) reverted back to Gen5. I'll deal with Gen7 or even Gen8 when my system gets.... more complex and I need the additional entity headroom, security, and range (which I need none of the 3 as of yet)

Beware of Z-Wave 700 series controllers

by Silicon Labs Firmware: 7.18.1 Hmph...never noticed this post before. I acquired a series 700 Gen7 usb controller to upgrade over my Gen5 Aeotec at the beginning of 2022. Took me a good while to get around to seeing about upgrading to the Gen7 due to the biggy bug I kept reading about...

Hmph... it never occured to me to put smoke detectors into my DSC. Didn't know that was possible, actually. I did purchase First Alert battery-operated Z-Wave smoke detectors I have yet to install but those will be monitored by Home Assistant. The smoke detectors that came with the house are...
