one additional note: this facility is located near Lake Tahoe.
Heavy snow, ice, freezing rain, and high winds. Hence, I really want to stay away from bullets if possible
I will not go 'whatever is cheapest'. This is my first business installation and I will go quality. I am familar with Ubiquiti so most likely that route.
for the price of this installation, I will go with a DIY server case build (like I did for my own house).
and a really good 24 port POE switch. Will not have to be managed since I am most likely go the route of a double NIC card in the Blue Iris machine to keep it out of the network
previous quote from different installer was $60k. probably for generic system.
am hoping with Blue Iris + UI3, 5mp wedge cameras (think I'm learning toward them for inside instead of 5442's), a couple powerful REAL PTZ's and driveway cams.... they will say worth $80,000 :)
Did my prefield today.
21 existing analog HikVision cameras & 24 port Hikvision NVR for existing.
A "U" shaped building with the top of the "U" facing front parking lot and bottom of "U" facing rear parking lot.
Customer does not want too many bells & whistles. Only will use a NVR system for...
when I talk to the client, I'll have to ask what cameras are priority for 8MP purposes and then 4MP purposes. And IF they even want inside cameras at all.
mini-wedge... I do not own that camera so do not know it's pro's/con's.
What makes it better than a 5442? 5MP vs 4MP? Or is it the smaller footprint on a ceiling?
I'll be meeting up with a customer on Thursday who was quoted $60,000 for 20 data runs, 20 cameras, and NVR via Hikvision from some vendor to start a pre-field and to give my own quote. Surely, I'll be cheaper. $59,500 at least :)
I, of course, will go with the Blue Iris and Dahua IP camera...
If OP plugged the IP camera directly into the switch port and it powered up and can see the login GUI page on the browser.... it's 100% a cabling issue if the same port used for testing is used for the camera cable.
PS: could it be a faulty patch cord?
what Fenderman says. First easiest thing to look at are the brass pins outside. See if rust is the issue on one of the pins.
Second, reterminate the outside connector first (RJ45 modular plug or onto a data jack+patch cord) using the same standard as at patch panel/at switch.

I do not get the big deal of what Dahua has done. I am sure they have catered to 600 billion organizations and industries in the past....just about anyplace that wants decent cameras. I would wager Axxis, Sony and Hik and all the other's have done so as well.
Will be contacting you about this.
As a new business owner, I am just super log-jammed at work to even begin learning how to dabble with DNS and MX and hosting and email servers and this and that. Way over my head right now and probably for 6 more months. I love DIY stuff, but I have limits...
I just purchased one of these only because I have owned previous Nexars and have been super happy with them.

Nexar One Dash Cam with $100 off (still comes to $250+ with the 2nd cabin camera) but still....
Well, I know Noble Studios so I can work with them if they own Sierra Telephone Systems. We program their phone system :)
I think 'networksolutions' is Integra.
Things to research this coming week.
yep. for now, easy and informational for time being. We are so slammed by word-of-mouth already and our frequent clients. However, I know that to expand a business, an online presence is needed with whatever bells & whistles that come with that. Mainly, I just want off the $120 per month for...
With the 'whois' websites out there, I just verified both Media Temple and Integra host the DNS and email. I guess I have to call them and ask if I own the DNS domain today or early next week.
missed that comment. So email server hosting COULD be different from webpage webhosting. Gotcha. My current email is actually hosted by Media Temple. I mean, it works. Ug...now I need to research what makes a good email provider :) I use gmail for personal. Unsure for business aspects...
Yep, took a look at some reviews of Squarespace. Business plans are up to $27/month (if pay for year). That's fine by me. I am not looking for a massive webpage, but just a simple one. I know I'll have to dabble with....SEO? Whatever it's called to make your website more visible for searches.
I didn't think of any type of posting of this personal topic til today when @SpacemanSpiff brought up a webpage for security installers by Sean Nelson.
Grab a coke and some popcorn. As those that know me here, I talk/explain alot as I think a backstory colors the upcoming questions I have. I...
webpage stuff for my company is something I need/want to do. But so slammed with work that such is on the backburner. Hopefully, after December I can get many of these small things squared away. Hmm... on that note, I should start a new post in 'chit chat' about what i'm facing and maybe...
is it possible to dig a small trench and run some outdoor cat6 cables to your yards?
If possible, I would always recommend left & right side of driveway and 2 out near the sidewalk entrance of any establishment. I would also always tell folks (if can afford it) to put a 20x or 40x zoom AI PTZ...
