    Hikvision Dealer

US Warranty camera will cost you double. I am a small integrator and use the normal distributors (ADI, Tri-Ed) and they are double the price unless you snag them on sale. In reality you pay that price for support and warranty (3 yrs).

Best 8 Camera Inexpensive DVR Under $100.

Fenderman is correct. I mistakenly linked to the NVR. Their 8 channel DVR is a bit more money but it's a rebranded Dahua if you look closely. You might be able to find the same thing for less but no support or warranty.

Please design me a hikvision Security system for $1000

Yea, that looks like every ADI. I'm surprised they sold to you without an account. They are pretty pricey compared to other distributors for Hikvision stuff.

Call Hikvision USA, give them my serial numbers and try to get tech support for their potential camera problems.

SOLD Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-I Dome Camera 2.8mm & 4mm (USA 3 Year Warranty) SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD I have two genuine Hikvision USA cameras that I purchased for a project. The customer decided on using two PTZ cameras so I have no use for these. These were purchased through a legitimate...

Something to note about Amazon and HIK

USA cameras simply have a 9 digit serial number (no letters). I have two Hikvision USA cameras that I ordered for a project and will take a picture of. To give everyone an idea, the cost for a dealer for one 2132F is in the range of $150 before tax.

Something to note about Amazon and HIK

This is well known already. The only place to get Hikvision USA cameras is through a distributor which will be impossible unless you have your own company.

How are you running cables to the cameras? Trenching?

Best Place to Buy HIK Vision

Local sourcing is crucial when you are working on big projects. I would hate to have a 30+ camera job and not be able to reach support and get a replacement the same day. Also, as far as old school installers, the majority of them are outsourcing their networking portion to other guys (like...

Best Place to Buy HIK Vision

The best place to buy Hikvision is from an authorized US distributor. You get tech support and great customer service. Unfortunately they do not sell direct to the end user, but I run my own small integration company so I get the advantage. Our cost is obviously higher than AliExpress, but when...

Canon Offers to Buy Axis for $2.8 Billion

I agree on image quality and cheaper cameras. My concern was not whether they shouldn't be cheaper but regarding the storage requirements. Until some sort of super-compression comes out, I don't see us using 16MP cameras until hard drives are way, way cheaper. From a commercial standpoint, I'm...

Canon Offers to Buy Axis for $2.8 Billion

I don't know if this is serious or not. Can you imagine the storage requirements for 16 MP cameras? I offered them 2.7 billion but they declined.

    New install advice needed

You need the cameras IP address first. I would find the reset button and just reset it then find the default IP and go from there.

Noob interested in a new system

Couple things: Stay away from the Unifi Video stuff. I love Ubiquiti for their APs and Wireless radios, but their camera system leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, main reason of Blue Iris is flexibility with cameras and tweaking of features. Lorex kits have the same exact cameras for all...

Recommend me a 16ch hikvision NVR, i cant work it out myself

Drop to 15FPS but you are probably still going to be pushing that DVR. I don't have enough experience with Hikvision stuff to tell you how it will work out with your required recording settings.

    Suggestions on new cams

You are talking about a PTZ like a Foscam? I'm thinking of a dome PTZ which are usually in the $400+ range. Why is the PTZ functionality essential? Why not just have multiple cameras? A lot of people that I deal with want a PTZ mainly because of the cool factor and will play with it for the...

    Suggestions on new cams

No way you will find a PTZ for $100. For a home, PTZ's are mostly useless. Just get a camera with a wide enough FOV. 2332 is a really good camera but will not give you PTZ functionality.

8 port Gigabit, managed, POE switch with dual SFP slots for $100

I've taken a look at some of the Planet Networks stuff. Their hardware looks very, very similar to Etherwan equipment (especially the rugged switches). The specs are also identical so I'm assuming they are the same thing. One worry is whether their customer support is any good.
