Hi All,
My rig is
3 x IPC-HDW5231 RP-Z
1 x IPC-HFW5231 E-Z
NVR4108-4KS2
The first time I have had to review an incident in anger and I cannot get a good face shot of culprit.
Thankfully on this occasion I didnt have anything taken but its served as a warning to improve my night footage...
Got build 385 on beta test now from Asus for the 88U bugs I've been fighting throughout this thread. So if you've got here on a DSL-AC88U OpenVPN push to LAN search update to build 385 when it becomes public.
All good ATM with the new firmware..
Finally working iDMSS app working on OpenVPN but live view is very very choppy sometimes stalling for over 5 seconds.
Anyway I can improve live view through VPN
Finally making some progress.
I can web browse to NAS drives and other things on my LAN 192.168.2 range but to do this I had to switch my firewall off which defeats the objective of more security !
I need more help from the more experienced like DWW0311 to help me configure my firewall on a...
Hi looney2ns,
As mentioned by Randy, think it must be due to this model being the DSL and not the RT.
I have two options to try out which is to create some routing rules for the 10.0.8.0 subnet or divide my LAN subnet and use a section of that.
I tried a windows tab tonight but exact same result! :banghead:
I can see on the Asus OpenVPN screen that both iPad & windows tablets are connected but neither can browse the LAN when connected from external ip to the OpenVPN. Openvpn shows the connected client on 10.8.0.2 and my Lan is on...
Yeah it's all connected Randy all exactly as above but can't access any of my LAN clients as I can when physically on my LAN.
When I log onto the router from a client within the LAN & can see the client connected (ipad) on the OpenVPN server.
Router is a Asus DSL-AC88U if anyone had same issue...
Okay now tried TCP443 but still no connection to my NAS or any clients or shares within my LAN when connected from WAN OpenVPN.
Another screen shot of my connection all the edited with red Ip are the same.
Is there suppose to be a value in the client ip ?
Followed this sticky kindly created by Randy but no mention of changing firewall rules?
All other docs I read had no mention of changing firewall rules ?
Read all they way through the thread again and maybe 443 is the reason I didn't read any firewall rules being set.
Finally got my hands on a Asus88U
Set up OpenVPN on the router without much drama and decided connect and test with iPad.
Ipad connects to vpn and shows connected on iPad OpenVPN app and also on Asus Router. All good...... I thought......
Issue is that I cannot access any of my local clients...
Thanks for the link to your thread !!
You saved me having colourful language as the camera I have with the audio out isn't the easiest to get access.
Looks like it isn't worth the time and tears ATM
Has anyone hooked up to the audio out yet?
My bullet been up a month or so now and I'm thinking of adding a speaker to the Audio out.
Is it just a case of connecting a speaker to the phono jack on the camera harness or do I need to do a little more than that before I get the ladder out again
Yeah did a little more research last night and the offerings are a little more limited with BT unless you have a separate fibre modem.
Netgear R7000 looking a good option for my set up ATM
Okay I finally got nap vpn up and running only to run into another issue.
The router supplied by my isp which is good old BT here in the UK will not forward 1194 documented on the BT forums.
2 nights worth of work for nothing I know it would of probably taken nayr an hour but at least I got as...
Installed OpenVPN on Qnap configured and downloaded certificate.
Transferred ca.crt & openvpn.ovpn to my ipad openvpn app by itunes transfer.
Created vpn client user account on Qnap to use on openvpn app to log in.
However openvpn connect times out and wont connect so im not quite there yet ...
Im going to have to set up my own VPN using my Qnap openvpn app.
Im a little confused on how it will manage incoming and out going traffic. Is it a case of all traffic to & from the ip of my NVR has a rule set to pass through VPN on my Qnap.
Is it possible to remove or disable easy4ip to...
Having just installed my first home NVR it has highlighted how easy but insecure the embedded Easy4IP was to set up.
I have a QNAP NAS sat on my network which I beleave can run openVPN I would like to learn how to set up and configure this to make Easy4IP more secure.
Hope someone can point me...
Was planning on using my own ddns with Easy4IP but that doesn't appear to be an option?
This seams to place more trust in Duhua security of Easy4IP than I would wish to.
A bit of forum searching opened a whole web of vpn threads, none of which seamed easy to understand apart from the Asus...
Yeah it must of been something like that as my second camera status turned green within a minute.
I too set 3 accounts up when I initialised the NVR.
Small steps ATM whilst I learn each section of the NVR.
My next job is to set up my own dynds rather than use the default service within the NVR...
