    Cameras lose signal then return

those cams seem to use a proprietary P2P wireless connection to the reciever unit that plugs into the DVR via BNC connection on an adapter/octopus cable. So 'normal' wifi bandwidth and troubleshooting will not apply. That said, they could still be knocked out by the microwave or other such...

    Coating on lens

yes, unless you pick the glue off, the lens should not move to change focus. it does sound like some sort of optical coating got nuked, or the lens (plastic?) got damaged by the super-cold spray... good news is that such lenses are cheap to replace... normal M12 in that unit, i believe...

    Coating on lens

hm. i have the same boobie cam and had not noticed such a coating, but also haven't needed to clean them although i did swap out one of the lenses... while dialing in focus for the swapped lens, i noticed the dome itself actually affected focus, so it was bit of a pain to dial in... (had to...

Whats the difference between DS-2CD2T87G2-L vs DS-2CD2087G2-LU

um, no. you have an 8mp camera down-rez'ing it's signal is all. it does not make the pixels any bigger.

    Cameras lose signal then return

try swapping out the ethernet cable between your PoE switch and the rest of your network. the fact swapping PoE switch (probably using same ethernet) had any effect indicates a connection issue on that link (ie, it may have been the act of disconnecting/reconnect on that ethernet plug that...

getting BI to recognize Lorex DVR cameras

ah, then that same URL should work to get each cam into BI. you'll need to enter it manually for each cam as BI is unlikely to be able to 'discover' them... something like "<NVR IP address>:9000/channel=1" (or somesuch...)

getting BI to recognize Lorex DVR cameras

https://www.lorextechnology.com/security-camera-systems/vertical-dvr-security-camera-system-with-960h-resolution/LH040-4ch-Wireless-Series-1-p that DVR has no PoE ports so is (most likely) not NAT'ing your cams' Ip's. Best bet is to point BI at each cam's IP directly. The NVR may have RTSP...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I got a couple of 4mm 2087G2-LU's from Andy just the other day, Still playing with them, but will most likely replace a couple of 'overview' cams on the front of the house. Currently have there a DH-HFW1831E (8mp on 1/1.8" sensor) and a Lorex LNB8005C (aka DH-4830SE, 8MP on 1/2.5" sensor)...

    Thoughts on my setup?

i guess the point about 'shooting the raid' is that there are other options used to provide redundancy and backup. notably use cameras that have an SD card onboard and can record their own video have BI duplicate the recordings to some other device (local NAS or if bandwidth allows, cloud...

Is this Amcrest ($140) and Lorex ($229) camera the same thing?

OP says: "I currently have 4K 15fps cameras " which model? LNB8005c? or lnb811, maybe? If you have Lorex NVR, you may wanna stick with Lorex cams for best compatibility. The Lorex E861ab is a nice unit (other than the 2.8mm lens). It's equivalent to the Dahua HFW-1831se. The E861ab's...

    Thoughts on my setup?

for 24hr recording in BI, you set that up in BI, not in the cam UI's. you can still have BI log 'alerts' on motion, or have it log them from the cam's ONVIF notifications if you prefer, letting the cams do that work. either way. while BI can be run in VM's (i know people do it,) it's not...

    Raccoon destroying roof

That's a skinny/hungry 'coon compared to the ones I see. Probably going for some tasty bugs under the shingles. At least it's not too complicated/expensive to fix, but you would need to do something to keep the masked bastard from coming back... maybe some sort of bug bomb up under the roof...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

oops. better send it to me then... :) jk. unplug cam from network. ping the cam's ip to see if the ip is being used by something else on the network. if so, find and unplug that device temporarily and plug the cam back in to find it and change ip to something else.

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I was referring to a tall narrow view like this one of my driveway (5mp Amcrest, not the topic cam, yet) . leaving the camera aimed at the same general area, but turn the camera body 90 degrees clockwise (or counter-). also need to adjust for the 'rotation' in the cam's web UI: try it, you may...

    Suggestions for small overhead cameras

the IR cut mechanism in any of these cams is just typically some off-the-shelf standardized thing. being a mechanical component (moving parts), they do fail, and can be replaced, if needed. however, by the time that happens ( a few years of use generally), one tends to upgrade rather than...

Lorex LNB8005B-C and Dahua firmware (Solved with instructions)

if i remember correctly, i think the newer version (14) limits the max bitrate available in the video config page for the main stream to 8196, while the earlier one allows that to be set a bit higher... the PN vs NP indicates both support Pal and NTSC formats, the first being default for that...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

my bad. i see now your cam runs with 10 sec i-frame interval. that does explain the low static image bitrate and could indeed be a problem for BI triggers. how odd... also, did they really do away with the B&W completely? My G1's (2347) do go to B&W in 'night' mode (tho not IR, of course)...
