    LPR Walk Through / Tutorial

I'm running 1/4000 shutter daytime and 1/2000 shutter night time. Exposure seems good. Plates are quite readable (human) day or night with little to no motion blur. I believe the steep (~45 degree) read angle is my biggest issue. To resolve that, I need more zoom. I have a z12 model on order.

    LPR Walk Through / Tutorial

Here's a typical shot with the current camera / location. Anyone have thoughts on what I need to do for better APLR recognition?

    LPR Walk Through / Tutorial

Well, I'm a bit frustrated with ALPRD at the moment. I have my IPC HFW5231E-Z5 set up, and I can reliably HUMAN read plates pretty much 100% at all times if day. I ended up leaving the camera in black and white mode at all times. So far, I am having little to no success with ALPR / ALPRD. I...

    Cameras facing each other?

Here's a shot of a HikVision 3MP bullet looking at a Dahua Starlight VF Turret (to the left of the door in the corner). If there is any motion on the walkway, the light goes up to 100% brightness. It's dimmed to 30% in this shot. This camera is about to be replaced with another Dahua Starlight...

Issues running ethernet cable next to furnace vent/stack

Maintain at least 1" clearance from the pipe and use plenum rated cable. Check with code enforcement in your area to be safe. They are very good about answering questions via phone in my area.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Submit an HOA application for the camera with the model number. Most will assume it's a standard camera. Once they've approved it, you're golden!

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

If those cameras were put on their own multi-port POE injector, they can be shut off by turning off power to the injector. I do that for my rear porch cameras. The wife didn't want to be constantly recorded while sitting out there, so if the doors to the rear porch are opened (they don't have to...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Likely, the reason being that he doesn't have any more, and doesn't want people to order them until he does.

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

    Just the camera interface.

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

I use it at my front door. It works great! Just set the camera settings for "rotate 90 degrees" and turn the body of the camera. Blue Iris recognizes the "correct" orientation of 1080 x 1920.

    LPR Walk Through / Tutorial

I believe this is the approximate "setup" that my camera will have. @nayr, any thoughts on how this vantage will work, once it's done with a proper optically zoomed camera? This will capture traffic both ways - in and out of a cul de sac starting 2 doors down. Traffic should be under 35MPH...

OK... here goes! I just added an ipc-hfw5431e-z5 to my order with Andy that should ship next week. For good measure, I also ordered the IR Cannon from nayr's birdhouse project. I'm not sure if it will be needed with this camera, but best to have on hand if so. Let's get this party started!!!

Yes. I have built up a "smart house" over the years. The code is from my automation server. We call her "Crystal".

I use this to switch between day and night, and just have the parameters set the way I want (on the camera) for each mode: if ($mode eq "night") {...

Well, the camera will be more or less zoomed on the width of the road, so snapshot on motion to a file COULD work, then have a scrip monitor the snapshot directory and send new snapshots to ALPR...?

    LPR Walk Through / Tutorial

OK... my thoughts are: 1. Acquire a camera with adequate lens, resolution, and IR to observe plates day / night 2a. Configure (camera? Blue Iris?) such that snapshots are put into a directory for post processing 2b. Possible configuration of ALPR Daemon to monitor stream from camera For my...
