    Long-distance camera limitation questions

This is the solution I would recommend, however, voltage drop on a 1200' run is the biggest issue. To keep voltage drop under 5% on a 15 amp circuit at that length (15 amp so he can use that power for other stuff too), he'd have to install #1 copper or 3/0 aluminum. The cost of that cable, it...

    enclosure box for pole camera

These boxes are not easy to break... they're fiberglass not plastic... and if they're using anything other than what they have with them, it's premeditated and they could have a ladder with them and power tools. Then what? Oh, and unless you put a giant sticker on it that says "NVR INSIDE - DO...

    enclosure box for pole camera

I've installed tons of fiberglass enclosures with NUC computers in them. I cannot remember if they had heaters (i install the equipment, someone else puts it together. I don't think they did...) but man, those fiberglass enclosures are nice. Specifically, we use these: Type 4X Polyester...

Dahua wifi Camera install where there's no outlets only light sockets.

Have you tried any other options for getting a network cable there? Hire someone that fish wires for a living (electrician)? Or could you run conduit?

    Camera placement help

Hey guys and gals, Yes, another one of these threads. Looking for some input on where to locate cameras around this house. Its not my house, this is a clients house that is new construction. Do I need to cut the cable on these coax cameras ?

There should be power and coax. This is probably a long cable connected to the camera. The joint is probably somewhere in the soffit. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

PHYSICAL Computer/NVR Security. How are you protecting your recordings?

If they can't find it, they can't take it. If they need to hunt for it, they won't have the patience. I've heard of putting a dummy DVR/NVR so it gets taken instead. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

    Pre-Wire Options for new home

Probably because they're going to take power from the nearest thing, making the wire run as short as possible, with no GFCI protection. This is likely the reason... but I know many who will do a price per drop then realize they lost money on the last job, and on the next job Jack the price sky...

How to install 9th camera in 8 NVR channel

Probably not. The software only supports what it says it will... if your NVR says 8 channels, you're capped at 8 channels. In my case, the DVR was advertised as 16/18 channels. I'd suggest buying a 16 channel NVR or using a desktop computer with BlueIris. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect...

How to install 9th camera in 8 NVR channel

NVR? Probably not. DVR (analog cameras) some will support additional cameras if they're IP cameras, but not an NVR. Get an NVR with 16channels, or a PC and use BlueIris Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

    installing Hikvision cameras

Pro-tip: Always pull the longest runs first. You may end up with shorter pieces that can be used for shorter runs. As for the power and voltage drop, I'll let someone else help with that. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

This is totally accurate. PTZ cameras are useful for something like loss prevention who will operate the cameras to follow a shoplifter or see if someone put something in their pocket. In a residential setting, I would almost go as far to say PTZ cameras are useless. Sent from my new phone...

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

If you need to view more than 1 area, install more cameras. I work with a company that does cameras on hotels. We commonly remove PTZ cameras to replace with fixed cameras. Why? Because they are never looking in the right place at the right time. We can end up with 32 or 64 cameras on most jobs...

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

What's the point in even having cameras if you're going to install one that will not be looking in the right place(s)? How usefull would a dashcam be if it rotates whenever it wants? Get in a wreck and the camera is looking at the passenger seat? Money well spent? Sent from my new phone...

Need help finding a camera. Been looking around but no luck.

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

Not exactly against them, but is the camera going to be looking at the right place when it needs to be? Think of it this way, what if there are 2 people, now the camera has 2 people to track instead of one. They do have their uses. As for no holes, I'm quite confused on this. I have no idea...

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

Not exactly preferred but he could install a POE switch at each corner to give him more ports for a second or third camera on each corner. It would have to be in an enclosure, but it is doable if it has to be done. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

Single ridge home corners installing ptz domes without screws!

Why do you want PTZ cameras? And more importantly, why can't you use screws? I've used stainless steel screws to mount cameras so there won't be big rust streaks in a year. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

Okay. Sure. Except you're wrong. Here's the different fittings from an IPEX PVC catalog. It's an LB. I made the mistake of grabbing one without the protruding portion on the backside. In my trade (electrical) it's an LB no matter what anyone says. Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect...

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

Because it's near the corner, I would use an LB on the brick side, and an offset into the LB to go over the downspout. It can also be done with the LB on the gutter side, but it's a personal preference to do it the first way. You'll need a pipe bender and rain tight fittings. Sent from my...

Will this Desktop Computer work for BI?

I don't pay for power currently, but I will take this into consideration when I move... Or if I run into issues with my breakers tripping... I'm also going to be inheriting some older desktops that have analog camera cards. I'm gonna see what is in them before I do anything. They guy I'm...

Will this Desktop Computer work for BI?

Thanks SouthernYankee. I'll probably pickup a SSD when I can and grab another drive for storage, keeping the current drive with vista to return this to a Media Server when I can. I'm trying to find a rack mount case used with hardware, but locally they are hard to find, as they sell fast. I...
