Turd on the sidewalk this morning

We have a ton of videos pooping and peeing, mostly women. Someday we might have an "adult camera captures" section on here.

    New Dahua install

Nice job using the mounts for the turrets and the mini ptzs. I think this gives the install such a clean look, plus you get a safe place to tuck the connection.

    NVR Choice and POE Distance

Can you send the camera data over a wireless bridge to an NVR that is in a building? Do you have line of sight to the area where you are putting the cameras? This would require just running a PoE switch or injector to power the camera and power the nano station.

Recording audio could get you in trouble

We need to think about why we are recording audio along with surveillance video. Most of the time it's not to capture a conversation or a neighbor talking about private stuff, a mic can capture an explosion, a screeching car, or a thief talking on their phone to a getaway driver. Audio can be...

    Audio Camera Install

Some cameras have a built in mic, which means the mic is built into the housing and assembly of the camera, and some have an audio input and output, which means the audio from an external mic can be transmitted from the mic, through a cable to the camera, then back to the recorder using the same...

    Remove Cameras When Moving?

I've sold two houses in the last couple of years, and both times I left the systems in place with the NVR. I went back to both houses after the sales and helped the new owners configure the systems to their phones etc.. We are hunting for a new place now and I can't wait to install the latest...

Do you record 24/7 or motion only?

I like recording on motion and 24/7. I also set up recording for IVS and if we have an external device such as a PIR or photbeam. This way we can go back and find movement pretty quick.

Do you record 24/7 or motion only?

We were at a local expo yesterday where Seagate had a display set up showcasing their new 14TB SkyHawk hard drives. Pretty cool to see progress from a 8TB a few years ago to 14TB

View cameras at multiple locations on a monitor

It is possible to stream IP cameras from another NVR that is outside of the local network. You would add each camera using the outside IP address of the remote NVR. In the same window, you should have an option for channel number, which is going to be the channel of the remote camera. Something...

    Audio Camera Install

You can purchase a camera with a built in mic, such as a n24cg52 and just use 1 cable. This video is a good demo on how good the built in mic works

    Another camera placement thread...

The complicated part is turning them back on. Thanks for the input on the dh-ipc-hfw4239tn-ase camera. I am going to put them where there is some light. We met with the local Dahua rep last month and he was telling us that they are the cats ass.

    Another camera placement thread...

@Whoaru99 how are the dh-ipc-hfw4239tn-ase cameras working out? We ordered a couple of the 3.6 bullets which should be here any day. I am interested in the night performance and the alarm inputs and outputs that are built in

    Alarm input plugs (DAHUA)

The bottom row is your alarm inputs and the funny symbols are your grounds. From your alarm device you will have two wires, a NO or NC and a COM (common). The NO or NC wire will go the the slot with the number and the COM will go to the ground. The top row where it says n - c is your form C...

Correct - We like to use drywall screws in tilt-wall down here in South Florida because they are outdoor rated and will hold in cat 5 hurricane force winds. We also use drywall screws to hold on our hurricane shutters and for anchoring into CBS. :winktongue::winktongue:

I am experiencing a few problems with my Ubiquiti and Dahua CCTV System

The skipping has to be something to do with a bad switch or connector somewhere in your network. Try unplugging one camera at a time and see if the skipping or lag is reduced. We saw this issue on a fairly large install and come to find out, there was a 10/100 switch that was old and causing a...

Mounting Turret Camera on Vertical Wall

I believe the camera mounting base has a slot cut in the outer ring to allow the cable to run outside of the mount, in case you wanted the pig tail on the outside of the wall for some odd reason.
